Today my wife felt the holidays spirit and after doing her groceries at publix in Southern Trace she went back in and filled a cart with turkeys to give to the less fortunate when she got to the register before she could pay the bill the manager named Tim came up and in a very demeaning voice informed her she could not get them at the advertised price and would have tp pay an additional 50 cents per pound she explained she intended to give them away this made no difference to Tim my wife agreed she would have no problem paying the additional fee at which time acting immature he grabbed the cart from her hands and said they would all have to be re weighed . She asked for his name to report him to upper management and told him he could keep the turkeys she would shop elsewhere This attracted the attention of at least 7 other shoppers whom all told her they were appalled by his behavior . She did go to another store and 20 family's will have turkey on her she also called upper management to inform them of his inappropriate behavior. If you feel the same take time to let Tim manager at Southern Trace Publix know what a turkey he was

You wife did the right thing by notifying upper management. The store's manager needs some additional training, or worse.

He did nothing wrong other than enforce store policy. Publix has tightened the rules on coupons and specials. I sure he was frustrated and your wife was just the straw that broke the camels back.

It was nice of your wife to think of those who may not be able to
afford a Turkey this Holiday.

After loading 20 Turkeys in that cart she may need the services of a Chiropractor.

I know of a Chiropractic office that is only a quarter of a mile from that Southern Trace Publix.

Two Chiropractors available there. I heard the "younger" one is good.

The OLD guy is pretty good also.

I haven't seen Publix's ad, but if it states how many turkeys a person may buy, the manager was within his right to limit her quantity. However, if his behavior was as stated by the OP, he was dead wrong in the manner in which he handled the situation.

Ad flyer and sale sign on case both state a limit of 2 per customer at sale price.

No one really knows how "Tim" handled it. Only hearing one side of the story from an angry person. If the ad stated 2 to a customer, then it is 2 to a customer. Why should "Tim" care one way or another what she is going to do with them? Glad you felt the holiday spirit that day, but I would say Publix feels it all year. Believe they donated more than 50 million to United way last year. And know I don't work at Publix. I shop at Winn Dixie.

Turkeys at 59 cents per pound is a "loss leader" for the store, and a way to show their appreciation to loyal customers at Thanksgiving. Hogging specials is rude, greedy and illegal, and the reason the Publix ad clearly stated "Limit 2 turkeys at .59/lb.; additional turkeys at $1.09/lb." We do all our shopping at Southern Trace Publix and have dealt with store management, including Tim, many times, and have always been treated fairly. To a person, they have been professional and kind. I further suggest that if your wife really had a charitable reason for clearing the shelves of product, the additional 50 cents per pound would not have deterred her from doing so. I would love to have been there at the time, to witness the exchange, rather than hear only your wife's version.

Tim should have seen this as an opportunity for free publicity of good will. He should have taken the picture with the op and the filled cart, explain why he can't do that for everyone and every volunteer group but appreciates the spirit and good intentions of the donation.
