Default New house walk through with builder, and it RAINED in TV!

It rained today and it was much needed. Everything was dry and a little brown.

We had our new house walk through, which does NOT happen until after you close.

We had closed through the mail and arrived last Thursday like a caravan of gypsys with a trailer.( Is using the word "gypsys" politically correct?) ANYWAY, after settling in and using all the stuff, it worked fine and the house was meticulous, perfect. Drywall, paint, plantings, everything. There was a slight indentation that needed filled in by the water box, the pole lamp didn't come on at dusk and the kitchen sink stoppers were missing. That was it, to be fixed.

Our rep came first, bearing gifts, and then the builder. Sweetie and I have moved into eight homes in our life, all but one of them brand new and three we saw built.

This experience was incredible, just like everything else in TV. The builder was
not only charming and polished, but in about two minutes you could see how this whole thing works so flawlessly. He had house plans and schematics for plumbing, electric, framing etc, including a nice surprise, our attic has floor! He noted our list and while, WHILE we were chatting, (in about ten minutes) someone was out fixing the pole lamp, the plumber stopped by with the missing sink stoppers and the landscaper was scheduled for the next day!

DONE....ditty dot. DONE. Snap just like that.

We asked about his history with the company and he told us that way back awhile, all of the builders and contractors would meet near the NOW polo fields after work on Fridays and have a cold drink with the Morses. He had a lot of good things to say about the family.

There are six or seven builders at the present time. I heard that the Morse/Schwartz family originally brought a builder or builders from Michigan where they lived.

Well, just wanted to share with you that this experience was so very nice and we love the house.

I suggest that if you are living someplace else you should live here. It really is wonderful.

GG - Thanks for the update. It's refreshing to hear completely positive reviews of the building process. As you mentioned you have a lot of experience with new home construction so your high regard for this process carries a lot of weight with me.

I wish you two only the best as you embark on this wonderful journey.

Glad that you wrote what you did about the builder.

When I purchased I just assumed that The Villages was the builder until I saw the closing documents and it stated who the builder was. Our walk through went just like yours with only a very few things that needed to be done and the builder was on his phone and minutes later someone would show up and correct our minor problem.

I have been told that The Villages builds all of the truss that are used in all of the construction in The Villages. They build the truss at a site off of Rolling Acres Road by the elementary school. I was also told that this is where they built the manufactured homes that the Morse family build for the village of Orange Blossom Hills, Silver Springs and Village of Country Club Hills.

GG congrats and it was certainly good to hear that they are still paying attention to the details. Our builder was Mike Parham, not sure if he's still there but he like your builder was a pleasure to work and took care of everything on our list no matter how small. I saw on weather.com that you've had rain for the last 3 days, great, let's fill up those retention ponds.

Good luck and ENJOY.

GG,

That's uplifting to hear that yours went so smooth. I have a walk thru on our house on 6/21. Hope to see same/similar results. Uh - that's if I can find the house.

Graciegirl:

Thanks for the good report. I'm glad things met or exceeded expectations. I had my walk through 2 weeks ago and everything went well. The builder representative said things will be fixed that other builders in my previous experiences would have dismissed.

I have a very high regard for their operations.

We had a very similar experience with everything going just right! It was great.
Golfnut - our builder was Mike also - he did a great job for us too.

When we closed it went very smooth and for the couple of items then were back right away to handle them. We were very pleased.
