Default Country Club Rates

We will be moving to TV in October. My fiancé and I are golfers which is why we are moving from the wine country of Southern California. Golf at nice courses is too expensive on a regular basis in California. We know the executive courses in TV are free with the exception of the trail fee. What we want to know is what the average cost is to play the Country Club courses?

Are there any actual private country clubs in the vicinity of The Villages?

I know that they call what we have "country clubs" but they are actually regulation length daily fee courses.

Where I come from, you can join a private country club by paying an initiation fee, and annual dues and play unlimited golf. Daily fee is by far the most expensive way to play. Joining a club is much less expensive in the long run.

Do any of the Country Clubs in TV offer membership discounts?

BTW: I love your info on Beatlemaniacs. I have all their 45's plus a vintage 1960 Seeburg 100 jukebox to play them on.

If you purchase a priority membership you do get a lower rate and the use of the CC pools. If you play a lot the discount will pay for the priority cost. Don't know if there are any private "Country Clubs" nearby. Downside of CC's is you play the same course all the time, there can be hidden costs such as monthly food minimums, tipping for the staff, bag storage etc. Something everywhere for everyone...just depends on what you want.

There is a Priority Membership at one, two, three, . . . all clubs that provides a discount on fees ranging from about $15 per round during the high season down to $5 during the summer. Cost depends on whether it includes one or both members of the household. If you go to golfthevillages dot com and look at championship enhancements, there is more information.

As stated by "Dr." what we have here are not what I would consider a country club where one has a membership. I have always chuckled at the tag line line free membership at all of our country clubs in the commercial

They offer something called priority membership. If you look at the rate sheet you will see different rates, one being a priority.

Go to http://www.golfthevillages.com/championship-golf

You will see a link for the rates, look right next to it for what a priority membership gives you.

Still a public course, but you get a better rate and other stuff and someone (courses) gets a nice cash guaranteed cash flow no matter the play for the season...

There are,a number of Championship courses within 20 miles of the villages that charge a daily rate lower than the villages country club rates. Example during the busy season village courses charge around $50 for 18. Del Web is around $35. Other courses are, even cheaper.

You will see plenty of deals in the Daily Sun when you get here.

Thanks, I found the information on priority memberships. You save $20.00 a round in green fees for a couple with the priority membership. For a couple it costs $925 a year for priority memberships in all the country clubs. Based on that information we would have to play 49 rounds from 10/1 to 4/30 to break even. In the summertime the discount is only $10.00 per couple. Assuming you played twice a week in the summertime, from 5/1 to 9/30 you would save $200.00 That reduces the actual annual savings with the priority memberships. A couple would have to play the country clubs twice a week all year long to save on green fees. There is no discount for golf carts but I assume everyone uses their own golf cart and pays a $5.00 trail fee.

Did I miss something or is there any other advantage to priority memberships other than having free access to the country club pools?

Default Trail Fee

There is an annual Trail Fee for your golf cart of $141.00. Note, this is for a household..it would include each legal 'resident' plus each golf cart. Example...includes my wife and myself plus our two golf carts.
