Default Bonifay

Went last week to Bonifay after playing golf. We were a large group. We take the service when it comes to us as our waitresses were working the tables as we came in. Ordered a burger and baked potato. Served in a timely manner. When my spouse and I cut into the potatoes, they were hard and brown inside. Got the waitress, do we want the mgr? Yes. By the time the mgr came my burger was consumed and we were having a good time with our group. Mgr says do you want something else? No thank you, but I really wanted my potato with my meal, and these looked like yesterdays potatoes or from 6 am. He compted us 2 potatoes. Where is quality control? Why did they leave the kitchen? I wrote an email to Bonifay telling them of this and no answer. I know they have a captive audience built in, but just not good quality. Waitress very nice, great company after golf, manager was deer with headlights.

Heard from a reliable friend less than happy with Orange Blossom.

Hope this group doesn't let quality slip routinely.

And probably another friend who just loved it!

It wasn't the comp that mattered, it was that the kitchen let it out to be served. Is this a national tragedy? No. Is it as important as Gloria Steinem marching into North Korea? No. All I wanted was a fluffy white baked potato. No comps needed. Never asked for a comp either. Just don't bring me end of the day garbage because they know we'll be back with the group.

The waitress did the right thing asking if you wanted a manager, the manager did the right thing offering you something else.

True. The lack of quality control out of the kitchen is the issue here.

Sorry, but I'm a little confused. You made the manager aware, but you still felt the need to email whomever at Bonifay?

It's ok that you are confused as you were not there. The manager just stood there shocked as we told him of the old potatoes. This is a quality control issue so I emailed. All this over a potato , I know, but if you were there you would have thought yuk. Yes I felt the "need" to email.

I have not been to Bonifay for at least one year but it is a beautiful club with the beach look in the dining room and at the bar.

What really turned me off were the swarms of flies at the outdoor bar. The outdoor bar is a great place to sit and watch the golf scene but the flies were so thick they would land on the rim of your glass or crawl on any food. I picked up and went inside to the indoor bar last time I was there.

The manager said there was nothing they could do about the flies. Are they still a problem or did they "fly" elsewhere?

We will be starting a large karaoke party every Tuesday night at Bonifay starting this Tuesday. One of the issues I spoke to the new manager about where the amount of flies we had when we were there last year. He assured me that he is taking steps and spending a lot of money to get the flies under control. I haven't been there for awhile but I'll be going on Tuesday so I'll report on any improvement. Keep your fingers crossed. It was really a horrible problem, our singers had to cover their food with napkins when it was there turn to sing or else flies would have been all over everything. Yuck.

Come join us, the singers are really good and the dancing is lots of fun.

lets face it, these so called "country clubs" are not country clubs at all. The restaurants in these country serve terrible food. We are a captive audience and they know it. Any of these restaurants would be out of business anywhere but here in the villages.

From a taste standpoint, I think the problem is the food can't be as good as or taste like we had back home when there are so many back homes. As for flies, one if my pet peeves, yet I continue to ask for outside seating. What the What?

Nope. They aren't country clubs. It is hard for country club restaurants to make it these days in the old fashioned way of excellent food and very high prices. It cost more than a hundred dollars for a dinner for two with two drinks at our old one. We had to pay a food allowance to them every month whether we used it or not.

I like Cane Garden, Mallory, and Glenview. Really decent food at very reasonable prices. Wonderful servers. Nancy Lopez and Arnold Palmer are a little more expensive, but always very nice choices and they too have incredible servers.

Isn't it funny we live in the same place and look at things differently?
