Default Florida National Cemetary - what a great day

Yesterday, we participated with a group of about 70 from Gilchrist ( along with a couple thousand other volunteers ) placing flags at veterans graves. Our group was organized by Sue Makarewicz and her husband Dave and we worked section 501 and one of the Columbariums. What a great and humbling day. The Cemetary has over 100,000. A beautiful place. And what a great way to honor our veterans on this Memorial Day weekend. It was truly touching to see all of the cars, jeeps, motorcycles, buses, etc. all bringing volunteers to place flags throughout the Cemetary. We were proud to be part of such a great project.image-jpg

Thank you for doing that.

I am proud of all of you. AND proud to be an AMERICAN.

I honor those who protected our country. You went the extra step to speak for us. Thank you again.

The Villages had 2 buses going and I participated in the flag placings also. What a moving experience and I was proud to be part of it as well.

I went out there today. As I got close, there were a line of motorcycles coming off I75 that must have been a mile long. Talk about rolling thunder! When I finally got into the cemetary, there were hundreds and hundreds of bikes parked in rows. Pretty impressive; all types and makes, but overwhelmingly Harleys.
