Governor bobby Jindal signed into law the State's Religious Freedom Act.
If he doesn't back down and runs for president he will get a closer look by me because at least I have learned by this decision that he is a man of principle and that he can act in the face of extreme pressures.

There will be those who will criticize his decision because of its content but they will have to admit he has intestinal fortitude...and that is a characteristic lost on many presidential candidates who have announced.

A critical issue in this presidential election will be trustworthiness because the present Administration in more ways has breached trust not only domestically but with our foreign allies. That trust needs to be mended if we are to have standing once again in this world.

I urge everyone to closely look at a candidates character and not the content of their speech, their sex or the color of their skin

Bobby Jindahl would make an excellent US President. He would get my vote if he ever gets that far.

Actually, Jindal did a "Barack Obama" as the bill was defeated in the Louisiana legislature and Jindal signed an Executive Order mirroring the language of the bill.

The Religious Freedom Act is not being taken well by large corporations with businesses in the state. It also will hurt Jindal on his presidential bid.

However, the OP was not about the content of the bill but on one man's action. My view - Jindal may have shot himself in the foot.

Agree about Jindahl. I have always been impressed by the fact that he appears to be someone who stands by his word despite the opposition and criticism. He would be at the top of my list of contenders also, if he chooses to run.

I really do not understand the OP saying we should look at the character of the candidate and NOT the content of their speech.

Anyhow, Bobby Jindahl is way too conservative for me. I need someone more centrist.

Probably because experience has taught us that content can change, but character usually does not. Just look at past elections and what was promised versus what was delivered. No one candidate will or should fit every need and/or desire, but at least with a person of character you know where they stand. To me, that is a good thing and something I consider very seriously when choosing my friends as well.

If you own a business to serve the public you cannot deny service that is clear. While these laws maybe passed they will fail in the courts including the court of public opinion.

I agree. While being veiled as religious freedom, this act does protect merchants while they discriminate against a class of people. Very probable it will be found to be not legal and will end up hurting the state in businesses who do not want to move there.

Dear Guest: Make no mistake about it there is a major assault on Christians. To equate bigotry with one's moral and religious beliefs in itself is bigoted.

Minneapolis has large Muslim population. These folks refuse as grocery checkout clerks to serve customers who purchase pork. If taxi drivers refuse passengers at airports who come home with alcohol purchased abroad...and it goes on and they are protect protection for their beliefs.

I happened to believe that homosexuality is unnatural aand that has nothing to do with religion. I also believe that if the baker doesn't want to bake cakes for any reason s/he has the right...and yes s/he will face the consequences but they knew that when they decided...but they should have the right to decide

What we have from the left is governing by intimidation and the biggest offender is Obama via Alinsky tactics.

I am personally tired of fringe progressive groups because everywhere they operate there is chaos, mismanagement and well a lack of common sense.

Is is not possible that this could easily extend beyond the rights of LGBT and into other areas of civil rights violations?

It is a very slippery slope into a regression to times and actions before the Civil Rights Act.

The truth is, the woman who refused to check out customers with pork products was reassigned to other duties. She was satisfied with the resolution and so was her employer. The taxi drivers who refused to carry passengers carrying alcohol or who had consumed alcohol were told that if they refuse service to anyone (except in the case where they were concerned about their personal safety) they would lose their licenses. I imagine some of them quit driving taxis but, again, most of them accepted the decision and they and their employers are satisfied. In both cases, common sense prevailed.

How do I know this? Because I was a resident of Minneapolis until recently and these stories were front page news and heavily reported.

You are entitled to believe whatever you want about Muslims or gays or any other minority groups, but you should at least deal in facts when you're trying to state your case.

It extends across every aspect of our daily lives and values.

You are entitled to believe whatever you want about Muslims or gays or any other minority groups, but you should at least deal in facts when you're trying to state your case.

Dear Guest: If you lived in Minneapolis then you also know that Saint Paul refused to allow the Easter Bunny in any of their buildings because they viewed them as an extension of the religious Holiday of Easter.

If you recall it took more than one incident until the issue with taxi drivers and grocery clerks was resolved. it didn't take anytime for St Paul to say no to the Easter Bunny

Perhaps you should reread my post because my facts are correct and as I stated I actually believe these Muslims had a right to exercise their beliefs.

I also recall the stir that Bosacker created with his antics.

I appreciate your acknowledging that I am entitled to my opinion because that opinion of being entitled to one's opinion is not common among progressives
