We have a confirmed close date for September 30th. Our home in Hemingway looks like it will be finished within the next few weeks. The granite was being installed today; birdcage is just about finished; floors are tiled; etc. The workers say there's about a week or two (at most) left in work to do.

I would like to close earlier of course but the date is confirmed for 9/30. Closing early helps the builder's cash flow so I don't understand why we have to wait an extra month plus to close.

Did anyone building a home find this to be true?

Maybe because of their very carefully planned schedule. There are hundreds of people buying, closing, financing, looking etc and a finite number of people who process the closing.. I guess in a word. You aren't the only one.

I personally would not rush it unless you absolutely had to. For one, let the developer pay for the grass watering that is probably being done every day or every other day especially now in this hot weather we are havnig. (New plants have an exceptiong to the water restricitions) . It takes a few weeks for the grass to get established before you can ease off the water, and water can get expensive. But as Gracie said, let them stay on schedule rather than trying to hurry up to meet your schedule and possibly miss something. But then again you may have a very good reason for trying to push the schedule up....I would bet the developer finds most people are just the opposite!

Good point Caroline; never even thought of that!

I don't have an urgent reason to move in other than I can't wait for my own home. I've been in a rental villa now since June 1st and can't wait to get planted; unpacked, set up, etc.

My rental is paid until October 7th - we added an extra week so we could spend that time painting and doing the hundred of things necessary when you move into a new home.

But other than I can't wait; there is no other reason to push the close date up.
