My wife and I saw "ROOM" this afternoon. It was more than I expected. It's a strong likelihood that Brie Larson (who played "Ma") will get a Best Actress nomination and that Jacob Tremblay (who played the 5-year old son) will get a nomination for an actor in a supporting role. I believe both are new, or at least relatively new to the movie industry, but both are real talents.

While the movie was a little dark with a challenging premise and some difficult scenes to watch, it was done very well and shows the strong familial relationships that exist in most families.

BTW, a really sad "thing" is that we saw it at 4:30 this afternoon and no one else was in the theater and we were told we were the first people to see the movie, period. That is a crying shame.

It is an excellent movie and I highly recommend that YOU see it.

Saw this today with an audience of about 15 other people. It is only showing at 1:25 PM at the Rialto but I found it an extremely well written, directed and especially acted movie. And the seats at the Rialto, at least in the Auditorium I was in (8), are quite new and comfortable. The Railto was the first theater I went to in Jun 2005 and I believe the only one open at that time and it has gone through a lot of improvements. I usually go to the Old Mill Playhouse or the Barnstorm Theater but Room is worth a trip.

Go see Star Wars: The Force Awakens. It must have a positive message to get a draw like it is.

Room is about survivors of a terrible crime against them and how the child and mother Joy "Ma" Newsome experience their recovery as well as more importantly how the boy Jack deals with his completely new environment. Interesting the ratio of men to women at this movie was about 13/2. There was one other man in the audience probably with his wife. The rest were couples of women, single women, and a trio of ladies.

Room seemed incredibly realistic about how certain parties deal with situations like the one the Mother and Son went through. The media sees ratings and even puts more blood in the water -- so to speak- to create even more of a circus around the survivors.

Looks like Room is leaving on Christmas. Enter ROOM, by Emma Donoghue

Look for it on DVD and Blu-Ray. This is bound to be one of the movies favored by the Academy Awards even though I also really liked Spotlight.

Rcently watched Every Secret Thing on cable. Great movie about horrible people and it was hard for me to sit through it. I have gotten to rely on Encore Westerns and the MGM channel picking those old favorites. I like the fact that crimes committed or sexual interludes are left to one's imagination such as "John we must resist its not fair to Michael" "cut to the incoming tide

That looks like an interesting movie. I am set to watch Star Wars: Episode II: Attack of the Clones. This was the only Star Wars movie available on Netflix. I just hope it does not have much in the way of Jar-Jar Binks. After being around my sister-in-law and her kid-- they are Jamaiican-Americans and she was in the Navy as one of the people who supply the SEALS-- I can see why that character would be rather offensive.

I will get around to seeing the new Star Wars: the Force Wakens as I love the work of J.J. Abrams. Just waiting for the crowds to thin out quite a bit.

I'm a little late to the party, I just saw "Room" this week. It's the only movie on IMDB.com that I gave a 10 to except for Revenant in the past year. Revenant was my favorite movie for the past year. "Room" was far superior than my best expectations and I have to pick it as my #2 best film. It was almost like real life, it was so convincing. I thought going in, it was all about the room, but as viewers already know, it's much more. I finally saw the Wallstreet type film "The Big Short" this week, and although it was interesting, as a movie it wasn't in the same league, especially with the all-star cast it had going for it.

Spotlight is also very realistic. I have had some experiences in my 224 613 Project fighting for respect for survivors/victims of crimes and see Room and Spotlight reflecting some of those experiences. These were from 2-25-1976 and following as I interacted with the fellow Earl Wooster High School students after the 2-24-1976 murder of Michelle Mitchell and that ongoing investigation. This was in Reno, Nevada. The probable killer Rodney Halbower though grew up in Michigan and is now in prison in Oregon. Google Taltarzac725 if you are interested in this story. It is quite complicated and involves some extremely disturbing tricks used by groups I came up against. It did seem very familiar when watching Room and Spotlight. I could write a non-fiction work about this of quite a length but I doubt if many would believe it.
