Can someone please explain the difference between these two homes.
This is a designer home: http://www.thevillages.com/homes/new...nvillea-FP.pdf and this is a cottage home: http://www.thevillages.com/homes/new...nKissed-FP.pdf

Wow, they look identical to me.
Could someone also explain how to pronounce the name of the first one? |

The differences I see are that the designer has a gutter over the entrance, a side by side refrigerator, a wall beside the shower and fans.

From what I remember the Bougainvillea had 1400 sf, the Sun Kissed 1392sf. That was when the HVAC in the Sun Kissed was in the laundry room, the designers was in the garage. If you tour both homes, you'll be hard pressed to notice the difference, even in finishing choices.

There may be certain upgrades...for instance in master bath the designer may have 2 sinks, a Roman shower, 2 walk-in closets. The kitchen also may have some elements not seen in a cottage series house. We live in a Sun Kissed built in 2008...it doesn't have a pocket door closing off the hall to the guest bedrooms. We have one sink in our bathroom, a molded shower and only one walk-in closet. IF you read the descriptions of each of the homes, there are differences.

Biggest thing is Concrete on Designers and Vinyl Exterior on Cottages.

as there is no "r" in the name. It is pronounced: (/ˌbuːɡᵻnˈvɪliə/ or /ˌboʊɡᵻnˈvɪliə/).

To complicate the situation even more there are 2 new cottage homes which the sales agents are calling "hybrids". They are the Citrus and the Putnam models. Apparently they call them that because they are sometimes placed in designer neighborhoods. The Putnam model is a 4 bedroom home and has more square footage than many designers.

I have a bouganveila and was told compared to Amarillo, which has same layout.
1. extra pantry 2. doors are upgraded and also has rocker handles. 3 Insulation was upgraded. 4. roof was upgraded - this has been verified by two roofers, when I thought I had a leak, which I did not afterall. 5. kitchen had upgraded appliances and cabinets. |

It would certainly be interesting to learn what type home gets the best price per square foot?

The houses are the same, the upgrades can vary.

NYGUY said it about best - main difference is the options. We bought the Bougainvillea, my sister bought the Amarillo. Both built within 6 months of each other in 2001. Ours has the tall ceilings in the living room & kitchen (makes it feel so much larger), pocket doors from living room to guest bedrooms/bathroom, pocket door from living room to master bedroom, the optional master bath with two separate walk-in closets, a pocket door from master bedroom to the master bathroom, a small pantry off the kitchen, and the furnace-A/C unit is in the garage. And yes, we have the nicer roof shingles. My sister's Amarillo has none of those upgrades but the layout of both homes is nearly identical - at midnight with no lights if you know how to walk one, you can walk the other very safely.
