I recently found out my tenants are terminating their lease and moving back to Georgia. I've been lucky to have had good tenants. I'm sorry to see them leave but happy for them. And, I must admit I'm happy for me too!

For now, the plan is to continue to rent my home January - April and when we are not there. And, I can come to TV with my 92 year old mother and my 88 year old aunt around the rentals. Luckily, they are both able to travel. Believe me, I would love to be in TV full time but they both love the four seasons in their beloved Michigan. Has anyone had any experience renting your home in the winter and you being a reverse snowbird?

After almost four years of owning my home, I'm finally going to furnish it! We will be down in May but it's going to be a crazy time with projects, furniture shopping and getting items for the home! I'm going to be looking for a kitchen dining table set, bedroom furniture for the 2nd bedroom, and living room furniture! Still haven't decided what I'm going to do with the third bedroom. I'm torn between a TV room or another bedroom.

Any ideas on utilities would be appreciated. I'm leaning towards Brighthouse for cable, phone and Internet. One company is easier when your 1100 miles away and my management company insists on a home phone.

For four years, I've been writing down contractor recommendations from TOTV. I want to finish my garage floor while it's empty (epoxy??). I know Tim Miller is highly recommended. I want to clean the dryer vents but read last week on TOTV someone was having trouble reaching Desmond Harris. I need to tile my lanai -- long story. And, I would like to have backsplash added in the kitchen. I have other projects on my "to do" list but these are the biggies. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Any ideas, suggestions, recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Congratulations to you, we are happy for you but how did you make it for four years? We just hit the one year mark and we ready to seize up! Have fun with your project!

Oh, Sable, I'm so happy for you! I know that you have wanted to be down there for a long time and at least now maybe you will be able to enjoy at least part of the year there. I wish I could help you with all that you have to do, but I have not furnished mine yet either so no experience to share with you. It sounds like a lot of work, but fun too!! Congrats! We are reverse snowbirds. LOVE IT! Walk on golf courses during June, July, Aug and Sept. No waiting for restaurants. Less crowded on the streets. No waiting to play water volleyball. Less people in neighborhood. Pools to ourselves almost every day. Pickleball courts not crowded. The list goes on and on... we live in TV from June through December and by December we are ready for a good snowfall so we can snowmobile and snowshoe!

I am very happy for you Sable and to you Nucky. I would give a quarter though to see you "seize up". JUST KIDDING....I don't exactly know what that is.


I know that Sable gets a lot of extra points from me for being such an unselfish daughter and niece. I hope you find a LOT of happiness here girl. You deserve it richly.


And Nucky and his lovely wife are going to find the perfect fit here. I love their upbeat attitude, sense of humor and adventure. I am SO glad the house is under contract and they will be heading this way.

Congratulations, Sable! I know you will enjoy it here in the off season, for all the reasons fraugoofy mentioned. How patient you've been!

We used Tim Miller for our garage floor. He did a fantastic job, and I highly recommend him. I also recommend Alexander Tile & Marble for your backsplash--and maybe he does tile floors as well. He cleaned, stained, and permanently sealed our dirty floor grout, and it's been a dream to keep clean ever since.

Sable, you have been so patient!! I am so glad you will be able to be here at least part of the time.

I might add, after looking at Summit Grande for my mother, that might be a place that your mother and aunt would LOVE living. We have already told our kids that is where we want to go when we can no longer handle the responsibilities of a home. It is beautiful and the activities are wonderful. The Food is excellent and the menu is like a cruise ship.
I hope you don't take offense at my mentioning it. We were just so very impressed. Not like any adult living facility we have ever seen.

At any rate, ENJOY!! This will be a wonderful new adventure for you and you can finally enjoy The Villages without rushing!

We love using our home in April and October and renting it out during the high season pays its expenses for the year. We've been lucky to have great renters (all found through advertising on TOTV). We furnished our home pretty much totally from TOTV furniture ads, yard sales and a little craigslist. And, it looks pretty good!

I would like to do some of the same projects you need, so will follow the progress you have with contractors. I also keep a notebook full of TOTV recommendations!

First off, Congratulations. Your list of projects can seem very overwhelming. You can help reduce your stress and anxiety by prioritizing your list. Start with what absolutely needs to be done first, what's most important. Then break it down from there, #2, #3 etc. IMO, it's always better to have a good game plan and try to stick with it. Things will fall in place and you'll feel more comfortable with your decisions and choices. Sounds like your doing a lot of research, that's good, it will pay off. Good Luck

You can furnish pretty quick. Did our first house in 3 days, delivered put away and left on forth day. Parent came in week later, very happy, had no idea how quick I put it together.
