Looking to golf some new courses in the area and was wondering what the best courses were!

I'm not sure what your definition of "best" courses might be but here are four fairly close that were pretty nice that I played in the last 12 months. Harbor Hills, Mission Inn (old course), Del Webb Stone Creek, The Legends (Clermont). They were in good condition when I played them and not too expensive.

I haven't played the course, but I've talked to several who have played it and they always say it's the best in the area. It's 15 miles west of Ocala, Juliet Falls. In the Sun sports section I've seen a coupon a few times.

About an hour away in Lecanto is Black Diamond Ranch. I help wth the Slope rating there back in the 80's. One of the best golf courses I'd ever seen.

Within an hour of TV, my favorites in order;

1. Black Diamond - Quarry Course (private, but can talk your way on sometimes).
2. World Woods - Pine Barrens (top 10 public in Florida)
3. Juliette Falls (a top 10 new public course when it opened)

Overrated IMHO:

1. Mission Hills - El Campeon (public)
2. Golden Ocala - (private, but can talk your way on sometimes).

Black Diamond Ranch advertises itself as a resort. They have a stay and play package.

Yes, I know.

But you have to commit to a two night stay and a home sales pitch and I figured the person was looking for somewhere to just go and play for the day.

World Woods, both courses are great. And Red Tail in Sorrento is very good.
