Well, unless you need to actually shake hands or something like that, or you aren't happy with whoever you're using now out of state, why not just keep that person and make use of technology to "meet" whenever you need to?? We liked our guy that we started with a while back in NJ, and got to know, so we have kept working with him and just plan a Skype session every now and then if we have something to discuss, or he will get hold of us to set up a session if he has stuff he needs to over with us. It's not all that often (we're not in any actively traded account positions right now) and seems to be working just fine.

Just something to think about if you have a good relationship already, rather than starting from scratch again. Good luck, whatever you decide!

Good point, I agree. The person advising my $1.75 portfolio is not in Florida.

Good Luck.

We do the same with our guy in PA, and since he has several clients in The Villages, he actually flies down 2 or 3 times per year. Works fine for use, I hate breaking in a new advisor.

Look out for these so called money managers-the only time I ever lost money is when I had a managed account with Smith Barney, most of people are actually better at selling then managing. They get 1-2% for playing with your money; but, they really get the big $$ from selling in house leveraged securities--big commissions.

If they're so smart, ask them , why are they still working

Look in your mail boxes-if you want you can get at least 1 free meal a week, go to these seminars & never sign for a thing--also, IMHO--stay away from annuities-costs to buy in & costs to get out--a sucker bet

I prefer to keep my old adviser back in CT.

If there is a problem or I have a question, I pick up the phone and call.

If you trust your old adviser is doing what's right for you, I wouldn't switch. IMHO

Default Money manager

We use Jeff Graunke (sp) who runs an ad probably daily in The Sun. We've used him for 7 1/2 yrs and he's done very well for us. His office is on 441/17 and 466. If you take 466 to the light at 441/27...his office is across the street on the right. Can't miss it!!
