This is impossible. That airport is a gun free zone. No one is allowed to have guns in there so how could anyone get shot?

Gun was in checked baggage, unloaded. Retrieved his baggage, went to rest room, loaded gun and you know the rest. Shooter came in on a Canadian flight. Had a military ID...not sure what military. No shooting in Terminal 1 determined.

Checked the gun in Alaska yesterday, flew to Minnesota last night, arrived today, went into a bathroom, loaded up, walked out and started shooting. Discharged 4 months ago as a combat engineer. Sad.

I'm proud of the police force. They took him down without firing their weapons. This shooter is obviously mentally ill. May he get the help he needs, as well as appropriate punishment.

But he's not supposed to have a gun in that area. There is a law against it.

He actually dropped his gun and sat on the floor waiting for the police to come and arrest him.

I don't mean to disparage the great job that our nation's police officer's do, but in this case, he basically gave himself up. You can be sure that if he was still standing there with his gun and refused to give it up they would have shot.

Given some recent incidents, sitting on the ground with hands in the air wouldn't necessarily prevent the man from being shot and killed. And if he'd been standing with gun in hand, the correct police procedure would have been to shoot, don't you think?

Recents incidents? As far as I know there has been one incident of police shooting a man with his hands up.

There has been a well crafted myth that this is happening all the time but I don't know too many people who actually believe it.

But,I'm still trying to figure how this happened. We have these anti gun laws that are supposed to protect people from things like this. Didn't this guy know that it was against the law to have a gun in the airport?

He did not come in on a Canadian flight. That was reported in error.

Apparently, the FBI knew f him and knew he was unstable. If that's true, why was he allowed to have a gun. If he had the gun illegally, why was he allowed to travel with it?
