Default Police circling the block!

I have lived in Duval over a year and never saw a police patrol car. Today at 1 pm there was an unmarked grey patrol car circling the block. I was standing in my driveway on my cellphone and he stopped for a moment to check me out. Something was going on in this neck of the woods today.

They had several speeders pulled over (25 mph) on the north side of the bridge. 2 cops standing outside with radar guns and other officers walk out to the street and point at who gets the lucky ticket. I knew this was coming. The speed limit has been changed for at least 3 weeks on the bridge. And yes the gray car was there too with 3 other cruisers.

Today at 9:40 am that same grey ford vehicle with the three antennas on the trunk and the smoked out windows was heading west on 466A. It was in the left lane, while a car, followed by a scooter, then me and then a commercial truck followed in the right lane....all traveling less than the posted 45 mph. The grey ford kept alignment and pace with the scooter ahead of me (who was well within the speed limit). Just after the Canal Street Gate entrance, the ford pulled off of the road on the right, then as soon as our descirbed posse above passed he pulled behind the truck. All except the very first vehicle put on their turn signals and turned north on buena vista. Within the first 800 feet the grey cruiser sped up and got in between me and the scooter and then pulled over the scooter driver. I have no idea why as he appeared to behave every law. At that point, I realized the cruiser had targeted him on 466A and wanted to pull him over for some reason, but they appeared to write tickets every where in Sumter county today as I was out visiting patients. Could it be they had a quota for the end of the month?

The new seat belt law took effect today. Was the guy driving the scooter wearing a seat belt? What about all his passengers?

They were just doing their job.. They do this quite often. People complain about the speed limit and all the traffic flying down buena vista. So every now and then they hit it, and yes the seatbelt deal is apart of that. Heck I see them riding around when I ride to work in the mornings. There were 3 of them on Belevedere sitting on the side behind the high school This morning at 345.
Sure there was a reason why he pulled the scooter over.

Thumbs up

it probably does have something to do with the new seat belt law. they were out in force all over the state yesterday and today as well pulling cars over right and left..they are targeting people who are not wearing the seatbelts..the fine is stiff too about $101.00 for your first offense...so like they say CLICK IT or TICKET!
let's be safe out here everyone...I know it's not just me seeing this but we seem to have alot of red light runners out here in TV if ya'll have not noticed..seems the rules of the road have been forgotten and it's not just here it is everywhere.
I personally do not move the car until everyone is buckled up.,,been in two serious accidents one with a belt on and one without...won't go without anymore...
BUCKLE UP ya'll keep your money in your wallets...

I also think that we are heading to a holiday weekend. More kids/grandkids visiting.

I saw the same unmarked car crawling through our Hemingway residential street. I'm sure it had nothing to do with speeders or seat belts except perhaps to serve as a means to kill time or do a leisurely turnaround before heading back out onto Odell to look for those dangerous seatbelt-less drivers. Perhaps they have a "quota" on the number of residential street patrols that they must do in a month and as long as they were in the area anyway, they might as well do some street patrolling.

Default The more cops, the more tickets the better.

Eventually TV will get a reputation for enforcement that hopefully will tame the "I gotta hurry to get anyplace to do nothing" crowd. A by product of the enforcement the rest of us are more safe and the county revenues are up.

Go get 'em cruisers!
