Some of the Villages have had break-ins. It was reported that they saw a woman walking up and down the street talking on a cell phone and they thought she might have been a look out for the crooks. They also thought the crooks were using golf carts to get around in. Glad to see the presence of police cars.

Recall one poster complaining because of the lack of patrols in Chatham area. Now we have those unhappy with too many patrols in their area. Go figure!!!!! Personally feel there should be zero tolerance for traffic infractions, auto and golf cart. But that's just mho.

This is very old news. Now don't get started with a bunch of rumors about break-ins!

Default No seat belt ....

I come from the other side. Back when we were living in Maine, I was forced off the road by a logging truck. My vehicle went down an ravine and exploded. I jumped out just before it went over. Thank God ..... no seat belt.

Second experience: I was living in Orlando and coming home from work one night heading east on Rt 50. I saw a VW swerve off the road about half a block ahead of me and soon found out why. Some female, drunk out of her mind was heading west of eastbound 50. I hadn't enough time to swerve, so I just jumped to the passenger side as she hit me broadside on the drivers side.

That's twice I would have been dead had I been wearing a seat belt. A hundred bucks to me is a lot cheaper than my life. And I still have the accident reports that state had I been wearing a belt I most likely would have ended up dead.

So if you feel safe wearing them, by all means do so. Like motorcycle helmets, I believe in free choice. And my choice is to NOT buckle up based on past experiences.

Neat bumper sticker. Went like this: "It's God's job to judge terrorists. Our job is to arrange the meeting!"

Be a gentleman, remove your hat/cap when entering a building and dining out!

If you believe in "free choice".... well, uh, what happens if I chose to wear my hat inside?

Not sure where all this "speeding" is going on. I always seem to get stuck behind the folks going 15 under. Enforcement always seems to be a bout speeders, but I see many more issues with red light/stop sign runners, golf carts driving places they aren't supposed to and cars driving on cart paths. Saw a car on the path by SweetBay the other day. They entered behind SweetBay and made it all the way around to where the path is closed for construction before turning around.

When will TV, the county or whomever is responsible finally mark things more clearly. You know, big signs that say NO CARS or NO CARTS. And signs that guide us to cart paths much more clearly. Sometimes it seems like they're hidden behind a wall of vegetation.

Musicman: I agree 100%. Having just returned from LSV and purchasing I found the signage to be a little lax. When driving in the golf cart you could plainly see the larger signs saying no carts beyond this point but boy the little one's were sure hard to find. Then this guy pulls up next to me and trys to explain the rules as his wife is chewing me out for not driving the way I should be. Also as your going down the paths before the tunnel exit and entrances there this little sign telling which way to go. I'm not saying there should be billboards just something a little larger. I know in time everything will fall in place, just a little difficult at first.
Still can't wait to move 9/10/09 new home in Bonita or should I say PARADISE!!!

The statistics clearly show that wearing a seat belt is infinitely safer than not wearing one. If one is not wearing a seat belt and you have an accident, you become a projectile and can fly out of the car or under the car.

I would not think of starting my engine without having the seat belt on.

. This should also be a warning to to folks driving 25-30++ MPH in their "golf carts". Especially those without proper license plates to comply with requirments for LSV and NEV's. Maybe the gal who drives the Yesteryear cart with NY plate that says DOGLOVER, who insists on passing every cart, even going around curves, on the trail adjacent to CR 466 will get her day in Court soon. .

Observational studies of car crash morbidity and mortality experiments using both crash test dummies and human cadavers indicate that wearing seat belts greatly reduces the risk of death and injury in the majority of car crashes.

It's unfortunate for the caregiver & family members for those that choose not to wear seat belts and are injured in accidents.

Default More Revenue Needed

As state/county revenues decline, enforcement of every little infraction will increase. They need the money. Get used to it.
