Default Vehicles Passing Golf Cart...Cross Double Solid Line

When passing a golf cart that is in the golf cart lane, please consider the following before you cross the double solid line in your car to swing wide of the cart:

You are risking a head-on collision with oncoming vehicles.

Not if nobody coming. I hate when all four meet, I avoid that plus don't like pass cart when two cars and cart meet.

Following one of the newer fully enclosed carts on St Charles today. Cart is a good bit wider than standard cart and driver had real difficulty staying within cart lane . Is there a maximum cart width for using these lanes-- Seeing problems on the way if this is not addressed

Thanks for this post. I'm amazed at how many drivers think that it is my responsibility to avoid them when they cross over the divider into my lane!

The same goes for golf carts that cross a"SOLID WHITE" - its the same as a car crossing a solid double line--IMHO-the driver who has to swing that far to pass a golf cart has no clue as to where the right side of their car is

Default golf carts on Morse

I believe that it is illegal as well as highly dangerous for carts to overtake on Morse.Have seen this several times and assume that they are "souped up" as we were running at 19MPH, Where are the Police when you need them!

would you be so kind as to provide the citation that defines a diamond lane's SOLID WHITE LINE as being the same as a double white line forbidding any passing? In other words does the solid white line forbid passing or simply define the space (area) to be utilized as a diamond ( golf cart) lane

The most dangerous driving I've seen lately is cars passing carts around a couple blind curves on Madero. Witnessed this three times this past week. I'm very thankful no one's been hurt . These cars won't slow down forcing others to brake suddenly and don't acknowledge the other drivers.

I doubt very much if any of these street will be widened.
So how should it be addressed?

From the Florida Driver's Manual:

Solid White Line
A solid white line marks the right edge of the roadway or separates lanes of traffic moving in the same direction. You may travel in the same direction on both sides of this line, but you should not cross the line unless you must do so to avoid a hazard.

In every state a solid line means no passing--if a cop is behind you & if he is inclined, you will be cited--otherwise--all the cart lanes would be broken lines

Oh the real hazard is a cart going 19.9 and the passing cart is doing 25+--I've clocked golf carts doing 30+ on St. Charles & Bailey Trail.

I have been passed in my CAR, with both the speedometer and the GPS indicated 31 MPH, by a golf cart in the golf cart lane, had to be doing 35 MPH!!. Pinellas Place.

I was in that area and had a cart zoom by me. When I turned a corner, there was the cart with a motorcycle officer having pulled him over. I am passed daily both on the multi-modal paths and on the road (in the golf cart lane) even when my "pedal is to the medal" and I am "flying along" at 19 mph.....
