Exclamation Power outage

We lost power around 5 AM this morning. All of Hemingway is in darkness. Probably affects the whole village. Right now my computer system is entirely on battery backup. Any one know what's going on??

Default WVLG Radio 640

Village radio station playing oldies. Not making any public service announcements or giving out info on the power outage. Playing oldies is not the way to go during an emergency.

Can't get thru to a human being at SECO.

Could be wrong but there is no staff at VNN until 7am. Did you call Village watch or Fire station??

Got thru to the Sheriff's office. Didn't know the radio station is on auto pilot overnight. OK, everything is up and running again.

Arrow Good Idea!

The lack of air conditioning woke me and really didn't know what to do. Power out all through Duval. Anymore villages???

Good idea to call the Sheriff's office. Duh! I never thought of it! Wow, I would not be good in an emergency!

Probably best to not call the sheriff's office in a non-emergency. I called Community Watch and they filled me in. I'll probably program the SECO number into my cell phone so I can call them directly.

The one nice thing about the otage was the view of the stars without all the ambient lighyting to get in the way.

Default You woke me up for this???

898 miles, 14.5 hrs driving time, torrential rain going thru Atlanta and I was sound asleep FINALLY home in bed. "Honey, wake up, it's dark in the house'"
You have got to be me. Come on Teddy, lets go for a walk and do serious business.

OK, I have to admit something. Only my best friends know this.... but I'm always LATE!! with everything!! Forgot to pay the elec bill last week and got a phone call.. Right!? So wake up at 6am to complete darkness and thought, OK, Kath, you did it this time... Sunday morning, 6am, no elec...... you won't be able to get anyone till Monday morning to pay the bill. Me and the babies are going to suffocate to death cause its so hot in here, how am I going to keep my date today without electricity (and prob hot water), its okay, I'll go to F16's house..... look outside, stars are brighter than this city girl has ever seen in her life, and suddenly realize that the whole neighborhood is out!! Should I call F16 and wake him up? Should I call Chels and wake her up??? Oh I know, I'll drive over to their houses, oops, how do I get the garage door open, oh oh.... well, might as well go back to sleep. Find out, its wasn't just me, WHEW!! The whole neighborhood went out. Let me add..... this is the ONLY time I have ever missed a husband!!!!!!!!!!

Default Yes, there was!

The power was out in Amelia around 5:42 this morning. I have NEVER been in such total dark in my life! Does anyone know what the cause was?

Whatever the cause was, from the posts it seems that not everyone was affected. Probably a transformer near one of the construction sites blew for some reason. It only lasted an hour or thereabouts.

I should have thought to call CW. I have their number on the fridge. It's hard to find human beings to talk to in the middle of the night. Just robots answering the phones. The sheriff's station was very helpful though.

Cars were backed up because the gates wouldn't go up. Maybe they should be set to go up in the event of a power outage so that vehicles can get thru.

Well, at least it gave us a chance to check our emergency equipment including the two battery powered Coleman hurricane lamps and radio. Must remember to install a hard wired phone somewhere in the house because the cordless units were all dead. At least there was the cell phone.

Everyone have a nice day.
