Default RJ Gators Karaoke

Last night was the first Saturday night for Patrick at RJ Gators doing his special karaoke show. It was fantastic... so its not necessarily the venue, its Patrick bringing in the crowds...

I really didn't think we could top his show at Red Sauce, but he did. The music is inside, there's a large dance floor, huge bar and the drinks are HAPPY HOUR all night!!! The Villages Florida

What is good is you can sit outside on the porch or patio and still hear the music but the most fun is inside right near the singers. It will never cease to amaze me of the talent we have here locally.

Gators will have karaoke with Patrick on Wed and Sat nights. I know I'll be there Wed., so come on over and join the fun The Villages Florida

My wife and I saw Patrick at Red Sauce a few weeks ago. The place was overflowing, they had to shut down the street it was so busy. We had a great time and thought we would go again on our next visit. Why did Patrick move to RJ Gators? Not that we have anything against there facility, just curious what happened. Will be back visiting soon and hope to see Patrick and all of the Villages talent at RJ Gators.

What I've heard Ron, and its only 3rd hand, is that the owner of Red Sauce didn't really want that kind of atmosphere for his fine dining restaurant. I heard he felt the crowds were getting out of control. Personally, I think he made a mistake, but that's my own opinion. I'd much rather have a bar full of people than have a handful eating dinner. From what I hear in the restaurant business, its the bar that makes the money.

Hope to see you soon at Gators, come on down and let us know when you make your plans.

Yes it is true that alcohol sales are a bid profit for restaurants, but you need to have the sales in order to make the profit. A couple of things that I have heard from folks is that due to the crowd sizes they never even bothered to try to get to the bar, that I can speak to first hand as the last time we were there we stayed on the other side of the street. Something I had heard 3rd hand was that there were issues with people sitting in the bar area but not drinking much if at all.
Either way if they are not making enough to justify the product and effort going into it then perhaps it is best to stop.

Default I thought it was great also

wife and I went Wed. night there was a decent crowd, good music, fine spirts. Went last night oh what a crowd, there were even people down on the dock. Good for Gators they'll make good money on that. i happen to like the water front location better then Red Sauce and the street but that's just my opinion. See ya next week as well. If we can find a seat.

Morning Tal, Patrick is a regular Villages' entertainer who's been in the music business since the 60's and 70's. Quite talented and a good entertainer. He knows how to bring the crowds. Maybe you could join us one night at Havana CC or RJ Gators. It would be fun to see you.

Smile Patrick is going over to Big City Grill on Thursday, and Sunday

Pat told me he will be at Big City Grill downtown Spanish Springs on Thursday, and Sunday this week. It will be in there outdoor cafe(been there seats about a 100 or so) from 9-1am. I like his show, and will be there.

Yeah Pat is doing some work at Big City Grill in Spanish Springs next to Katy Bells. I'm Joe, I'm one of the other Karaoke DJ's there. We do Karaoke at Big City Grill every night of the week from 9-1. I'm there Mon, Wed, and Fri Nights. Just trying to get the word out.

Hi Joe, thanks for entertaining us, we really do appreciate it. I will try to catch your show one night soon. We do go to Big City on Thurs. and Sunday nights to catch Patrick's show as we are big fans of his and we really appreciate the management of Big City for allowing us to have this entertainment daily as it is tremendous fun.

One thing that disturbs us so much, is the fact that the Villages Mgt is forcing these shows to be inside the restaurants rather than allow us to sit outside, especially now that the nights are cooling down. Their premise is that the music is too loud but that is nonsense and not true. I believe (and I have stated in a previous thread) that it seems to be that the Villages Property Mgt group is purposely giving the restaurants and entertainers a hard time, for what reason, I have no clue. It is almost to the point of harassment and annoying and I feel that as Villagers it is the duty of Property Mgt to let us have the fun that was promised us and why we purchased our homes.

If they continue to badger the entertainers and restaurant management, we may no longer have these places or talent available to enjoy. This would be a major negative to the lifestyle we currently enjoy in TV.

If you agree, (and I sure do hope you do), I suggest that we call the Property Management Group and ask that they refrain from putting pressure on our entertainers and that we, as Villagers, want to have the entertainment continue wherever it works best at each place.

With all the baby boomers moving in (I am NOT one but I'm not telling my age), having shows after 9pm has been well received by many of my friends here and they should continue without being nagged, needled and nudged.

I may be opening a can of worms, but I would love to hear your opinions on this. Come out and join us some night and you will see how much fun we have.

I don't know if this has anything to do with TV's choosing not to allow outdoor entertainment or not, but I am going to through it out there for conversations sake.
The American Society of Composers & Producers(ASCAP) is an organization that is the "watch dog" for the artists that we all know and love... from Tony Bennett to Jimmy Buffett. They are cracking down and Strong Arming dues all over the country. Basicly saying, " if you play or have someone play 'Brown-Eyed Girl' than you have to pay us heafty dues, so we can make sure Van Morrison gets his cut".
I stopped having music outdoors at my restaurant in SC, so as not to draw attention to myself. I have a client in Mt Dora that is struggleing with ASCAP right now, and considering doing away with live music altogether....
It seems to me that an organization as large and wealthy as TV would pay the dues and not blink an eye? or maybe the dues are being left to the individual operators? in which case, might, in itself exhaust the entertainment budget.
Just food for thought???

Kathie, it just isn't Baby Boomers who ask/want things to go/do after 9 PM. My 84 year old Dad asked me what kind of clubs/entertainment is available after 9!!!!!!
