Default Still curious

Hello again from Columbus, Georgia. We are becoming a little bit "obsessed" with ideas of a "new life" in The Villages. It still seems a little bit too good to be true, and yet it does seem that it is true. We'll be coming down for a Lifestyle Preview visit over the Holidays - arriving the day before New Year's Eve. Are there special events planned for New Years - other than private parties, of course? There seems to be so much going on all the time there, we assume that surely there is something on New Years. We have been so impressed with the friendliness of everyone we've met, and the helpfulness. With our upcoming retirements in the near future - this year for Carole (the teacher) and maybe in another year for Bruce (museum director) - we are both thinking that The Villages might be a great adventure for that exciting time of life.

Hi,

I just moved to the Villages in July (newly married) from Opelika, Al. I love it!
There's always something to do and plenty of great people to do them with.
I know you'll like it too. Carole, where do you teach in Columbus? My sister retired last year as principal of Matthews Elementary.

I don't know about New Year's. This will be my first too. I know there's live entertainment on the squares but I think someone said it ends at 9:00 as usual.

The powers-that-be in TV tend to play down New Years Eve at the squares because, in the past, celebrations have tended to grow until a little out of control, crowds swelled to unmanagable sizes, etc. There are plenty of "private" stuff going on at various clubs and rec centers in TV - just check out listings in the Daily Sun, the Thursday Rec Center News, etc. Your biggest decision will be "Which one do I go to?"

Default Hi to Columbus

well Columbus, in general. We are snowbirds that rent and are from Columbus, Indiana.

Just a "howdy" and enjoy your visit.... BTW, the Columbus, IN group has about 40 couples living here in The Villages and I'd bet you guys will find a nice sized Columbus, GA group here, too.

From Spain, now in Cordoba, (headed back in two days to Indiana).
