Default Warranty Problems CYV

We are in our 2nd year in a CYV with Vinyl siding. Had the Vinyl fixers come out about 6 times during the first year to fix various small problems; one of which was gaps in the siding which many of our neighbors also experienced. I called the warranty department last week and they said we are still covered...that's good! But I asked them to have the repair person call before coming so I could insure a proper fix....instead of the normal "slide the vinyl back into position" and then leave. Well I did get a call on the answering machine and I have called back a number of times with no contact. Question: Is any one else experiencing bad customer service in the 2nd year? The first year they were very prompt!

I've found The Villages Warranty Dept. to be exemplary in their performance. I had a couple of small issues in year two and they were immediately addressed.

As far as your vinyl siding is concerned, I'm informed by people in the business that there have to be minor gaps in order to allow for expansion and contraction with the varying temperatures. If the siding was really tight it would probably pop off during the summer heat like an overloaded spring. Obviously, I'm not talking about large holes and I have no idea what the extent of your presumed problem is. By the way, if you're concerned about the elements getting behind the vinyl there is a moisture barrier between the walls and the siding.

I hope this helps and may give you some comfort about the construction.

Thanks for the info....the gaps are about one inch, only happens on the East and South facing walls. As you say probably is sun/heat induced. None of my other Vinyl sided homes have had this problem; I'll keep after them and let all know how it comes out...

You might want to check with the POA. They have a listing of people who are well trained and versed in the Villages siding problems
