Default Police chief visits Fenney

Hello,

We are moving to Fenney the end of May. Noticed on the Fenney Friends web site that the Wildwood police chief visited Fenney to address secuity concerns.

Could anyone provide any details?

Thanks,

Tom

I have read many times when the local police are invited to speak at gatherings and clubs here in The Villages. We are planning to invite one in a group I belong to. Usually the talk is on how to make your home and neighborhood safer, how to watch out for possible threats and what to do if you aren't sure.

This Forum or the online news usually hears of any break ins or arrests. The high season in Florida is usually the time we see some increased activity of bad guys coming south for the weather.

If there is something bad happening in Fenney, I am pretty sure Vintagegauge would be aware and tell us on this Forum.

It was an informational meeting for the residents down here. If you already own your home or lot you can join Fenney and Friends to get a summary. Mostly talked about if trespassers are suspected who to call, how the security process works within The Villages system and when and when not to use 911 for police.

You will find that there are a lot of people that are jealous of Fenney and post negative replies. You won't find that from anyone who actually lives here.

I can understand why. Twice we have eaten at the Fenney Grill and enjoyed sitting on the screened in porch and looking at the family pool and the surrounding area with the group of big live oaks, it is like a picture from a magazine.

We have driven around Fenny and remember how much fun it was for us, twice, to live in a new area here, and to make new friends and share the new adventure together.

Excellent choice, Vintageogauge!

I dont see that anyone is jealous about Fenney? Whats to be jealous aboit. There are many people who have valid criticisms...no shopping yet, no town square, and lving in a construction area for years to come.

What I find more is that people defend their pirchase there. Some may not want to admit they made a mistake

Jealousy breeds contempt and criticism, there is no other reason to criticize something that you are not part of. Of course there is no shopping south of 44 however groundwork has begun on the first plaza and it's 5 miles to Publix on Kristine Way, Paddock Square was built where it is knowing that south of 44 was in the future plans of the developers, it is only 2 stoplights away via 301, less than a 10 minute drive until golf cart access is complete, that is close enough for most of us, all new villages early residents lived in a construction zones, the Village of Fenney is nearly completed and most of the construction is in DeSoto now. People defend their purchases here as a reaction to the bashing and criticism that has been going on for over a year now. I have been here a year and have never met anyone that regrets their purchase. This is an energetic, fun filled and relaxing community that people are moving to in large numbers. What other Village has a rec. center with a poolside bar and grill, fire pit, and a nature trail. When we moved here there were less than 30 units sold and now if you look at the Sales Office map of available units, it's hard to believe how many have been sold. Even in DeSoto that just got started there are dozens of homes and lots already sold and dozens more with holds on them. The growth is unbelievable and the commercial development will follow.
