Default Poll on Havana - Love it or hate it?

Seems a lot of people either love or hate Havana. I've been there many times and will continue to go back. Once I had slow service and was given some discount coupons without even complaining. I have taken out of town guests there and was never disappointed.

So - how do you feel about Havana?

Default C'est ne pas magnifique

I am not able to say that the food at the country clubs in TV is excellent all of the time, except at Lopez. It is adequate and inexpensive. I like to cook and I like a wide variety of fresh fruits and vegetables that you can't really get consistently at most restaurants.

I know you won't be impressed with my food experience when I say that the burgers are really, really, good at Cane Garden. The catfish at the Lighthouse is WONDERFUL! The quiche is yummy at the Veranda and the rest is fine, not wonderful, but fine. Especially when you consider the price.

The atmosphere is great at all of the country clubs that I have visited except one far north and I have never had such wonderful service on a regular basis as that at Cane Garden. The servers are always pleasant and they give each couple or person a separate check and they just do a great job.

Default Quiet

I enjoy a meal which includes a quiet atmosphere and an intelligent conversation.

I can bring the conversation but there is no place in the Villages that provides the quiet atmosphere so my wife and I invite people to our home for dinner.

If we want noise and dancing we do not mix it with a meal.

Cashman brings up a good point. There is such a wonderful variety of restaurants and Country Clubs in TV, BUT,.....there are virtually no small intimate restaurants for a quiet , good meal. I miss that terribly.
Does anyone one know of any small intimate restaurants in this area?

I think Lopez (while large) has small intimate areas with nice booths.

Seafood Galley is small and 'kinda' intimate.

Thai Ruby medium size and again kinda intimate

Harry's Seafood Bar & Grill in Ocala can be intimate and not too large.

I guess it depends HOW intimate are you wanting to get.

......... maybe you need to 'get a room'.

It's hard to vote in this poll because I've had very good food and service and very bad food and service at Havana.

In all the debates about Havana I'm surprised no one has discussed that before their one year anniversary in November they were already on their second general manager and third (maybe fourth?) chef. A revolving door and constant turnover is never good for any business.

Like the new show "Undercover Boss" maybe they need to get someone undercover in there to find out what the problem really is.

We were the second customer in th door when they first opened. We were presented cold food then and the next time as well. Reviewing some of the comments it hasn't changed so much. I don't know of a reason why hot food would be delivered cold and since I don't know I don't feel a need nor desire to try some more. You shouldn't have to ask the server to have the meal reheated.

Is this another FREE Add for the management of Havana ? as I do not see other Country Club asking how do you like us now

If you ran off villagers especially year round ones you would have to earn them back

Pros Beautiful building, Great spot, Great name and theme for a Florida "Cuban" 30's Club Restaurant

Cons Bad service, Cold Food, "home cooking", Unfriendly bartenders
so if you take your own food and drink you are in a great spot

Poll, why a poll? Go to the other thread with 70 replies and just count the pluses & minuses.
BTW this thread eventually will have the same 70 replies.
Time to let it rest.

Hallelujah!

I thought I'd throw that in. Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday anyway.

No it's not a free ad for Havana. I was just getting tired of seeing all the posts back and forth about Havana and thought it might be interesting to see some statistics of what people really think.

Agreed, either go and enjoy or go somewhere else.
