Smile Rental availability

I want to come down and visit sometime this winter. I'm seriously considering The Villages as my retirement destination. I'd like to stay for two weeks and am wondering if any of the rental homes in the villages make reservations for short terms like that. Or, does anyone have other recommendations? I would kind of like to stay in one of the older, existing homes because that is probably the type I would be buying if I move there. That way I'd get a better idea of what life in The Villages would be like for me. Ideally I would like to come down right after the holiday in January. Maybe I'm dreaming but I want to check out my options. I'd appreciate any input you might have

Hello,
What month are you planning to come down for your visit? Do you have pets?

Go to JD Manangement: thevillagesforrentbyowner.com

Lots of places to pick from and even though January is a very popular month you may find places still available for less than the full month. Good luck!

If u r thinking of coming down here in Jan. Feb. or March, u better make your reservations yesterday. Those 3 months are probably 3/4 filled up already.

I am thinking that you know about the lifestyle visit? Where you can come down for about five days and stay in a home in the villages for a lesser rate than a hotel and you get free meals and some golf ?

I bet you do. I just thought I would mention it.

I'm thinking of January... but I know January, February, March, April are busy rental months in The Villages.

Yes, I was contacted by The Villages about the Lifestyle Visit (because I sent for the Villages DVD). I was hoping to stay longer than the 3-5 days that they offer. But, thanks for the reminder, I might just end up doing the lifestyle visit instead.

Default renting in January

you should be able to rent January only, much easier than just renting Feb. or March. I'm speaking as a landlord in TV of 4 years. But you might not find one with a golfcart or located near Lake Sumter Landing or Spanish Springs - most of those (close-in locations and with golfcarts) can easily rent for the entire season (Jan, Feb. & March) to one tenant, which most landlords would prefer.

If you find one without a golf cart (and the price should reflect that), get your golfcart reservation in right away with one of the sources on this site - they are usually all booked up if you wait too long. Jim Followell is a good source for gas 2 seaters, and quite reasonable.

I think it's a great idea to tie a month's rental in with a Lifestyle Preview Visit - and I would try to rent the type unit you think you might want to buy.

Default rentals

I rent there 3 to 4 times a year....I stay 1 to 3 weeks each time.....There are alot of web sights that show homes there and what they look like and what the rent is at any particular time of the year.....It has been my experiance that for a short term rental 1 week or more.....Most home owners there won't get back with you....The only one that calls me each and everytime is Tony The Golf Cart Man....His web sight is www.prohomecontractors.com. Most of what he has is on the old side (silverlake) but very nice and all come with a free golf cart....I go in winter and summer...I am going down for 2 weeks in May and I am renting a house off him again for 275.00 per week, plus a one time charge of 75.oo for pet and clean up when you leave....Tony also has an e-mail address of: tony@villagesgolfcartman.com....
