This is direct quote from veteran Democrat Rep. Pete Stark at a Town Hall meeting with his constituents. There is no limits to the Federal Governments power over your life as espoused by this Congressman.

Is on exhibit here. This is the kind of attitude that Obama and his ilk display every day. The Constitution means nothing to the Ruling Class.

Yeah, he's a gem. But you know it is amazing that he keeps getting re-elected. Somebody, maybe on this site, said it was because of redistricting. I dunno, but I'd throw the bum out without blinking.

The sad truth is there are many many people in this country that are just fine with socialist programs and government control. Unfortunately those people accept the idea that we can "interpret" the constitution to bestow abortion rights, rights of privacy, health rights, welfare rights, and government social programs, all in the interest of progressive government. This country is in for some serious political turmoil in the very near future.

And your concern is well justified ! JUST the ill convieved, unwanted, back room, bribe induced bill called the Health bill.....Kevin Brady of Texas undertook the job of trying to understand this bill just a bit.. First consider the organization set up.... "This clearly is a candidate for most disorganized organizational chart ever. It shows that the health system is complex, yes, but also ornate. The new law creates 68 grant programs, 47 bureaucratic entities, 29 demonstration or pilot programs, six regulatory systems, six compliance standards and two entitlements. " And of course this administration likes to quote the Congressional Budget Office when telling us how lucky we are to have them but do not recall this bit of information... "Those mandates also might make your health care more expensive. The Congressional Budget Office predicts that premiums for a small number of families who buy their insurance privately will rise by as much as $2,100." http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2010-0...n-hassett.html This bill which was a backroom deal all the way, unless you are one of the favored by this administration (read exceptions for Union members), this bill alone should worry everyone. If only it were the only thing........ |

You are against abortion? Which one of you is going to adopt all these unwanted babies? Stand up and be counted! Yeah, I didn't think so. You have a whole bunch of empty principles... and nothing behind it. |

Your 'choice' in whether or not to participate was taken away under FDR. At that time, the people were promised that those who paid in would receive payments proportional to the amount that had been paid in by them. Today, we know that Medicare funds will be reduced by 500 Billion dollars to pay for the 'uninsured'. The idea of means testing for social security is being bandied about and will probably come into fact in either 2011 or 2012. Similarly, your choice on whether or not to participate in Medicare went away under LBJ. I suggest that those who are concerned about the size/expense of government are correct. Our local governments are set up to provide police/fire services, parks, schools, roads, etc. What they were not intended to do was to carry out ever increasing Federal Mandates imposed by a National Government that believes it has the authority to do whatever it chooses to do. Why don't your stop tossing about terms such as Fascism until you understand their meaning per Webster, ": a political philosophy, movement, or regime (as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition." This accurately describes a National government with no limits on its powers as described by Congressman Stark. |

unable to or lacking sufficient vocabulary to make a complete sentence....just kidding. I remember from a long time ago, before it became popular to use such terms instead of the real F word (something to be really proud of eh?).....an English teacher told us that.
There are much better ways to create emphasis than embarasing ones self with such low language as used way too much today. I don't allow either use in our home because it means the same. btk |

If I need more I should work longer, save more, or rely on VOLUNTARY charity. I agree there needs to be BASIC health care for everyone to prevent disease. That is a legitimate government function. Why do the liberal entertainers go outside of America to adopt foreign babies? Maybe you should ask your adoption question of them. MANY Americans adopt American children, including those that cannot have biological children. There are waiting lists to adopt all over this country. Stop using straw men arguments. I have contributed to charities my entire life. Do not preach to me. You do not know me. I am against the government confiscating more and more of my money in the interest of social justice. I gladly pay for necessary government services such as police, fire, military (although I would cut our military budget in half at least), but you know our governments, state, federal, and local, have long ago gone far far beyond using tax money only for those essential services. our social welfare programs are OUT OF CONTROL. I am against corporate welfare just as much as social welfare. It is not right to give tax money to corporations in the name of job creation because "some other city or state" will give it to get that company. NO tax money from any city, state, or feds should be given to companies.. period!! I am not an abortion opponent..I am opposed to the federal judges creating constitutional rights. you assumed that just because I used abortion as an example of federal expansion. Again.. you do not know me and assumed incorrectly. I support state's rights.. like adoption rights, custody rights, zoning, theft, rape, murder, assault, fraud, and most other crimes, state government exercising the power of the people should decide the abortion issue. My positions are completely consistent. |
