Default Re-opened movies

Has anybody been since the theaters re-opened? What was the experience like? I know there isn't much to see that isn't already on Netflix, but going to the movies is something to do when not much else is going on.

pre-COVID we'd go to TV movies almost every week. Now, nope - no interest for many many months no doubt. Would ONLY consider this year IF there is a Super-Duper movie out.

There is STILL so much to see on our DirecTV, HBO, and Netflix. And theaters, now too close for comfort. We're spoiled at home.

No interest right now, when movies we would really want to see are out would reconsider but probably not until we have no worries from the virus

AMC is making masks mandatory. (is that too many "m's" in a row?)

My sister and I went to Sumter yesterday afternoon to see Sometimes Always Never. (Love Bill Nighy!) We were the only two people in the theater (possibly the only paying customers in the building). Lots of workers, all wearing masks. Safer than going to Publix or Walmart, I think.

My brother and I will go probably soon. He does not golf nor do much of anything else but take walks with me. So a movie would work.

Default Theaters Did Great Job

We went to the theatre Thursday and couldn’t be more pleased ho they had things set up. We bought our tickets a day early so didn’t have to wait in any lines. Arrows all over floors for walking patterns, one way in and out of concessions, distance spacing in restrooms, mask request signs, seating really spaced out in theatre and plenty of staff always checking in theatre and walkways to make sure everyone in compliance. Not many people at the shows yet (we were at 9:15 am show) We are very comfortable going back.

You say "mask request signs." And there's the problem. Masks protect others, so even though you may wear a mask, if other patrons don't then you are at risk. And being in the building for a couple hours is different from going to Publix for 30 minutes...more exposure IMHO.

The theaters need to have masks REQUIRED for me to go and sit in an enclosed theater for 2 hours. Why would I wear a mask to protect others if others don't wear a mask to protect me?

Oh, you are right about that. Silly me. I guess I shouldn't expect mask wearing in a movie theater. Should be just like a restaurant where social distancing is followed. That makes more sense.

AMC is requiring masks so how are their patrons going to eat popcorn and sip on a soda?
