Default State bill to limit impact fees introduced

Villages employee/lawmaker wants to help his employer - Orlando Sentinel

Apparently there are no ethical standards in the Florida State government.

Clearer title which will serve better to get the news out. If you have a link to the amendment post it.

Edit:. Here is the link: CS/HB 337 (2021) - Impact Fees | Florida House of Representatives

Contained within the amendment are details which continue the actions of the Morse empire to limit impact fees.

Spirit of the article is accurate as it relates to the limiting the ability of local Governments to increase impact fees.

Does the bill sponsor still work for that employer"
Do the sponsor's assets still remain in the the trust?
Are there yearly disclosure filings available for review subsequent to the article's 2019 statement discussed there?
Does the bill zero in on the developer of the Villages or all developers?

As someone who has volunteered on various boards and committees up north, I was required to take a course every three years on conflict of interests. This screams out as a classic example.

Agreed and he should be subject to a recall if allowed in Florida

No discussion on how impact fees negatively effect growth - Not one single word! Not one word about the cost of commercial impact fees. Not one word about how much UF Health would pay to build a new hospital. Focus: California; Can Impact Fees Stunt a Town'''s Growth? - The New York Times

It turns out the new UF Hospital will be in Lake
County not Sumter and
The President of UF Shands did not know which county
It was. He stayed away from impact politics but did say they will need money to build so it sure does not look like it’s anywhere close to definite.

Welcome to Florida politics where residents pay for roads and improvements to land, poor schools, homeless families abound, former governor bilked the govt out of $300+ million in Medicare payments. Oh well, at least the sun shine is free, so far.

Hmmmmm, wonder why the local Villages newspaper hasn’t mentioned anything about this conflict of interest? 😂

Very interesting.

The developers paper has an interesting slant on things, if it helps the developer it must be true.

Default Conflict of Interests

We are let the legislators do what they do. Apparently everyone feels the situation is only in Sumter county. Keep your eye on the ball. This has been business as usual all over our nation, from the local level to Washington.

Be wary of the bias, seeing as this came from The Orlando Sentine.

It is important to note that there would be no increase in taxes. The increase in impact fees would be offset by a reduction in property taxes-- a break for existing businesses. Future commercial construction would depreciate the higher impact fees over the life of the building, and as noted, they would be offset by lower property taxes. Future business will not be deterred.

The Daily Sun articles are propaganda, written by the Developer's Minister of Propaganda, David R. Corder.
