I believe you are correct. They are likely doing that to avoid anyone saying they weren't notified and shouldn't be paying them.

As soon as my agreement is over I will cancel them . They have a license to rip their customers off approved by the politicians we all elected in congress. They usually have 2 price increases a year so that great price they gave you initially will substantially increase each year. If you want to keep internet only their lowest priced tier is very overpriced.

I had a 2 year contract with them for Internet and TV $130 a month. 2 months into the contract they raise it $10 a month. They tell me these are costs outside the contract terms. I file a complaint with the FCC and they have a Rep from Xfinity contact me. They tell me the same bull. I say to them my costs are up so can I only pay them $120. They laugh. FCC says Xfinity has told them they have satisfied my concerns. I tell the FCC they have not satisfied me. I ask them only Xfinity is allowed to change the contract terms during the term? FCC doesn't respond.

I don't doubt you but I don't understand. I guess I'm just lucky. Was your contract a NEW SUB contract or just a "renewal" of an existing contract? I see lots of posts like this. I have NEVER in all my years of cable or satellite SO FAR ever had an increase of more than a few pennies up to maybe a dollar and change during any "new subscriber" 2yr contract I have had with multiple providers. Every renewal I do is as a new subscriber to leverage the lowest rates with a 2 year contract be it with Fios or ComCrap and I never see these $10 or $5 increases people always post about. In fact, my monthly ComCrap rate just dropped $10 and I had no idea why but it seems I got the reduction of $10/month from signing up for Xfinity Mobile which in itself saved me over $50/month (PLUS $150 in prepaid gift cards for transferring 3 lines) vs. Verizon that I previously had for the same services.

Comcast has done this forever. You lock in a rate and that deal is in place but they raise fees which are separate. The other choice in many cases is not to watch tv. I pay it because it is easier than figuring out a smart tv. I guess it is no different than your fixed rate mortgage payment goes up because the insurance fee or tax fees increase raising your monthly payment.
