Default Golf Cart Rules of the Road

I believe (someone correct me if I'm wrong) that the folks who live in Spruce Creek are allowed to cross 441 in their carts (due to a special exception). But what about crossing from the Walmart/Sonic side over to the McDonald's/CVS/strip mall side? I didn't think that was legal but I saw someone do it this afternoon (and I did not see a plate on the back of the cart so it did not appear to be street legal).

Seeing that cart surrounded by all those cars -- that is a busy intersection -- gave me the creeps.

I do not understand. Is it legal? Why does it matter? IT IS CLEARLY NOT VERY BRIGHT.

No, it's still not legal to cross where Walmart faces McDonald's. People do it anyway.

Is walking across any "more bright?" That's legal. It all comes down to doing whatever one does safely and OF COURSE legally.

Had they been street legal would they have looked less creepy? When our "cart" was street legal (we had it "decommissioned" due to absurd insurance costs) we regularly crossed 441. It's no less safe or any more scary then taking a bike across or a motorcycle or walking. Like anything else if one isn't careful no matter what they drive it can go bad.

I wonder if people who do it think it is legal or if they just don't care that it is not ...

But your cart is (was?) an Atomic, right? That type of cart gives one a lot more protection. This was a run-of-the-mill OPEN cart with a large dog sprawled across the front seat. If it got hit they would have both been squished or gone flying.

I'm always amazed at how many people are willing to break the law. Maybe he REALLY need McDonald's!

From over at Lowe’s/Walmart there is a set of lights that you are suppose to be able to cross but I don’t know which ones so I wouldn’t dare cross. There are enough places to get to safely without taking a risk.

Golf carts have TOO much leeway and NEED to be under more scrutiny by law enforcement and DMV there is too much abuse of the laws by their owners! There is a “bridge” to use for crossing 441/27, USE IT!!!!!! ( BAN THE GOLF CARS TO STREET USE, they BELONG ON THE COURSE “ONLY”

Whats the difference. ? Theres always the people who swear the world revolves around them and we just live in it. Theyll start to “think” when they get rammed by a car.

When I almost bought in Spruce Creek , I was approached by a Spruce Creek resident who assure me that he could get me a Villages Gate card and a " Pirate " fake ID card to use The Villages amenities! I didn't know this man from Adam but he felt comfortable enough to approach me! ....

Time to move. You live in the WRONG community. The permitted use of golf carts is a major attraction and a key component of The Village’s lifestyle.

It's one road past where you turn to get to Stonecrest golf course. You can see the guard house for Spruce Creek when you approach the light.

A lot more protection from what? Mosquitoes, maybe. If you are in a golf car...ANY golf car...that is struck by a car, Newton's laws of physics will prescribe the outcome. It won't be pretty.
