Call White Glove Movers in Bayonne NJ. 201-6531511. We used them to move here from NJ and my daughter has used them numerous times. Very professional and have never had anything broken.

I can recommend you go have a nice meal and cocktail at Maison Premiere in Williamsburg before you leave. Sorry, I can’t help with movers.

We used United vans lines years ago, and specified NO TRANSFER station, when you do this the truck that gets loaded is the same truck and crew to load and unload. This was expensive but there was nothing lost and very little damage.

I can't think of anything that I would ever own that would be worth paying someone to move a thousand miles.

My suggestion is to bring as little as possible except for some short sleeves and shorts and underwear and sandals. Plenty of cheap dining room sets and the thrift shops and all you really need is a couple of TVs and the new living roomset possibly

Bekins.

My wife and I moved here in January from N.Y. and everything was handled professionally. Can't give you price comparisons as we were more interested in having the job done right, and on schedule. No complaints on either end, including having the movers take furniture and other materials from our apartment as well as from our storage facility a mile away. I was totally satisfied.

We used Allied. Mover gives job to a driver.

Driver got two guys from DC to drive 250 miles to load our stuff. Did great.

Gets to Villages and he hires to guys from Tampa to unload.

Unbeknownst to us those guys broke stuff and than hid the breakage and we didnt even realize what happened to over a week later.

We were too busy to file a report with Allied so we lost several hundred dollars worth of stuff.

To make a long story short you need to watch the unloading like a hawk.

My son recently moved from northern CA to Montgomery Alabama - what a mess. His initial estimate was $10k. He did not know the company he was hiring was a "broker" and outsourced his shipment to three different companies. The costs increased from 10K to 30K. I kid you not. Why I say this is to be very careful as to whom you hire. Make sure they are picking it up and delivering it to your home. Not additional sub carriers. There have been numerous complaints against these moving brokers who don't even own trucks. I'm using a U-Haul and moving my stuff down in NOV.
