Default What is your Favorite Way to Pay Bills.......

.......personnel check, debit card, credit card, or cash?

Reason for asking, I can't believe the people still writing checks for everything and jumping in their cars to pay their utility bills at bill paying centers.

I use credit cards for everything I can, without getting charged fees.

I pay for everything with a credit card, except at restaurants, where I pay in cash. I pay online bills with Echeck, if they won't accept a credit card.

Pay most everything online with bill pay or echeck. Never use to but half the bills are on autopay.

I rarely carry any cash or use an ATM

I write a check out for church weekly...our lawn guy doesn't take a credit card, so he gets a check once a month and I write out a check to pay our real estate taxes, beyond that everything hits a credit card that gives me 2% back. At the grocery I use a different credit card that gives me 6%. I do allow the water bill to be taken out of the checking account, (but no one else) only because they wouldn't take a credit card at the time

then I pay everything with bill payer

all part of trying make things simpler

Paying bills is vastly overrated.
We change our names and move when the heat from creditors gets too hot.
Works for us!

Gas and groceries and everywhere they take Apple Pay. Walmart Pay at their stores. Electronic everywhere I can. Autopay everything else. Don't carry a wallet, just a twenty tucked in my phone.

All my bills come out auto from credit union, including credit cards , the main credit card that I use gives you the option to take it all or alert them to take the least amount which I’ve never done, the backup card contains , cell phone , WiFi , direct tv, Humane Society,Deans pest and lawn , by using backup card you’ll have little chance of losing it and have to stat over , I pay the lawn guy in cash , he would have a heart attack if I gave him a check. It’s a very uncomplicated way of paying bills and I’ve been doing it in many different homes without any problems in fact the credit union is in Boston and I probably haven’t been inside it in over 10 years

When my 98 year old dad drove himself to hospital knowing he probably wasn’t getting out he had $2,000 in his pocket they asked him why and he told them it’s walking around money ,you never know when your going to need it . My father was always optimistic lol

That is the new way. It is actually a recent change. It is no longer legal to offer a cash price. Of course everyone is honest and pays tax on every penny-ok to laugh now. I asked a friend, who used to have a retail store about this, very few people pay cash. You must take credit cards and the retailer pays a charge to the credit card company for every transaction plus a percentage of the bill. That of course comes out of profit.

This lessens what used to be called the underground economy as well as what I used to call suitcase money-people with quantities of un-taxed money.

Today, it has exploded. Stores offer their own credit cards often administrated by the same companies that offer the,"normal credit cards." If, you use the store card it is less say 5% if you use the normal card it is 1 or 2 %. For people who carry a balance on a card, the interest rates are huge-considered usury in most other banking.
