Very good golfer. His personal mistakes notwithstanding.

Tiger for sure. There would be no doubt at all had his off-course "activities" not taken up so much of his time, energy and concentration.

Sorta like John Daly, admittedly with a different issue.

Even so...these guys are well-known because of how well they play golf, not because they win citizen-of-the-year awards.

There's competition for the title as Golf's Greatest of all Time. I think Tiger's record speaks for itself. When speaking of the Greatest Golfer, I think performance on the golf course is the only applicable criteria.

That said, many of the possible "greatest" who went before Tiger, didn't have their every utterance or their indiscretions, broadcast by the Internet, YouTube, Instagram and all the scrutiny that Tiger has had.

Bobby Jones was a renowned racist.

Arnold Palmer was a womanizer, of Tiger proportions.

Jack Nicklaus was an arrogant "know it all", who made plenty of enemies, to say nothing of his business "indiscretions".

Ben Hogan was disliked, if not hated, but most everyone he ever met or competed against.

Gary Player was a well known cheat.

On the golf course, no other player has ever dominated is peers, as did Tiger.

Just my opinion, your mileage may vary.

Hogan.
Though tigger tries to equate his returns from his debacles, Hogan returned from a self sacrificing act.

No comparison. I think it’s a pretty safe bet that the “indiscretions” of those others could hardly hold a candle to those of Tiger.

And as far as I’m concerned you lost all credibility when you compared any womanizing Arnie may have ever done to that of Tiger.

I know from personal experience. That said, Arnie was one of the nicest, most personable and giving person I've ever met. He liked his women.

Judging an athlete's performances on a golf course, football field, basketball court, hockey rink, etc. should just be based on what happens when he/she is playing the sport. If cheating on the sports venue is involved then that should count. But off-court stuff should be irrelevant unless it goes into the realm of criminal activity especially if it has some bearing on the sport involved like betting on the opposing team to win and then losing the game on purpose, etc.

Tiger Woods is a great player of golf. Easily one of the best there has ever been.

He certainly deserves to be in the Hall of Fame of Golf whatever his character flaws are.

I’m very aware of that. Arnie’s liking of women still can’t compare to what Tiger did.

And for the record, I know Tiger deserves the HoF for his golfing. Does that mean my opinion of him changes? Not in the slightest.

IMO Chi chi Rodriquez out classed them all.

IMO tiger mistake was hanging around pro basketball players. Bad roll models. His dad IMO would of straighten him out.

Golf for centuries has been sport for the elite, only in last 40 or so years has been available to middle class kids. Majority Kids of yesteryear didn’t have all the time or availability to play golf. Being and officers son IMO not middle class.
