Please clarify. I thought one was good for the other?? Are you saying that you have both and when you go through a gate it charges both transponders? I need to log on to sunpass and put more $ on mine and I can't find my account number. It is in a very safe place so I can go to it right when I need to - ever do that?

Default Don't use two transponders!

The SunPass transponder picks up and charges you for the ePass tolls. I assume if you have an ePass transponder it will do the same thing (for SunPass tolls). So if you mount both transponders, you will get billed twice.

Call the SunPass toll-free number with any questions. They have always been very helpful.

I have one SunPass transponder and it works with both. Why would you buy one of each?

I just have a Sunpass mini transponder which works on both systems. I have never had a problem with it working on the Epass system.

Yes, lose one of them.

You only need one transponder for both of them.

As far as money deposits go, why not just have them auto deposit into your account? I do it in increments of $10. It has never been a hassle.

Coming from a world where there are few, if any, toll roads and having driven the toll roads on the East Coast so little, I've always been confused about what is the difference in Sun Pass vs. e-Pass. Anyone care to enlighten me?

Hi Redwitch,

Epass is good from Virginia to Maine. Sunpass is only good in Florida. What a pain that we have to carry around several transponders. You'd think that with today's advanced technology "they" could make one unit that can tell what state you're driving and transfer the toll to them. I bet it happens soon.

I believe that SunPass is in competition with Epass. With Sunpass, Florida gets all of the revenue. With Epass, they have to share in a cooperative money pool. Sunpass is for Florida residents and Epass is a courtesy to the millions of out-of-staters that come every year. I think.

Soooo...... you're saying that a Sunpass will work in VA? We're going back to VA later this month and usually pass through some toll booths around Richmond. If we get a Sunpass, will we be able to just cruise on through? We're planning to get a Sunpass anyway, but didn't realize that the two systems were interchangeable or compatible.
