Default Broken down golf cart

Good morning, All. On Friday morning at roughly 11:30 a.m. as I was driving in the golf cart path along Morse Boulevard almost at the O’Dell Circle roundabout near Havana Country Club my golf cart just suddenly stopped running and would not move. I called my husband to see if he could meet me. Unfortunately he was on his way back from Eustis and wouldn’t be here for about 25 minutes. I sat in my golf cart for about 20 minutes watching golf cart after golf cart either go around or come towards me without ever inquiring if I needed help. Finally after about 20 minutes a gentleman came alongside of me and asked if I needed help. I i asked if he could help me push my golf cart off the path into the grassy section on the left so I would be out of the way. He moved my cart and asked if I was ok. I thanked him over and over for stopping. As he got in his golf cart to leave he said, see, New Yorkers aren’t all bad. I sadly did not get his name, but, sir, I will say thank you again for stopping to help me!! This post is not to complain but to say, please, drivers, if you see a cart stopped along a path, just make an inquiry to see if that person needs help. I have done that many times if I see someone stopped. Thank you

Get Kart Aid and you won't have to worry.

I have stopped many times, only once was someone having trouble, and they already had someone on the way. Every time the person thanked me for stopping. Just out of curiosity what was wrong with the cart?

I have a golf cart tow service. My main concern was getting off the golf cart path. The tow service came after the gentleman stopped and my husband met me

Thank you for responding. I still don’t know. I heard a bang and it just stopped. I had 3/4 of a tank of gas so it wasn’t that. Hoping it isn’t anything major.

I don't wish to be critical, but wouldn't trying to flag down a passing golf cart have been more productive than just sitting in your cart?

Took the words right out of my mouth.

Being a little assertive in this situation would’ve helped.

Sounds like you're trying to paint TV residents in a negative light.

One time I stopped to put down my curtains as it had begun to sprinkle & a guy stopped to help. Another time when we first moved here we stopped to check a map & several people stopped and asked if they could help.

Didn’t see oil puddle after it was moved?

Then I’ll guess say battery especially if cart was dead? If you raised the seat should seen something? A Lady about 5 years ago was driving old electric cart and the batteries exploded knocking her out of seat, cart hit curb and turned over.

you’re gas cart only has one battery.

Second guess say secondary clutch? I had similar experience except the cart just slowed down and labored. I was close enough to home and limping it in. Found the secondary clutch was hotter than firecracker. And came apart. But even if secondary clutch came apart the primary clutch would release the transaxle from the engine. Which means the engine would idle but not go anywhere?

That would’ve made much more sense

As I said in my post , it was not a complaint. I just asked if someone is parked idle in a golf cart lane or off to the side to just ask if that person needs help. Nothing to do with painting anyone in a bad light. Just a courtesy.

This is unusual, most of the time it’s too many stopping to help.

Exactly. You pull over to answer a text or a call, and people have to stop and check on you.

If your husband was in Eustis, why didn't you call the tow service and have them take you and your cart home?

I've stopped many times to check on people. If I see them pulled over looking at a map, I make sure to stop. Many times, they are new to The Villages, and have no idea where they are. They need help getting oriented. There are also times when the person says they have help on the way. Still, no harm in checking on them. I've seem others stop to help many times.
