Default TV insurance sales company is demanding a 30 minute inspection of my CYV

I bought my CYV new about 5 years ago and got home insurance thru one of the sales companies at TV. This past winter I got several phone calls that they wanted to do a 30 minute walk thru to do an inspection of my home, ....... or my insurance would not be renewed this coming Nov. Know that the sales company is not the insurance company. My insurance is paid in total the month before it is due and paid directly to the insurance company, not the sales company. I recently got a letter from the sales company that the policy would not be renewed..... I think it is a scam, but wonder if others are getting this...... I also wonder if it is a way for someone to charge to do an inspection, so they can later come in a steal, etc. I have never had to put in a claim and my home is really nice. Any ideas?

The Villages Insurance, your company?
What sales company?

This does not sound right, I would contact the insurance company directly and ask them what is going on.

Remember before Obamacare AKA Affordable Care Ace, health insurance companies made you submit your health history and even demanded blood work etc before they would issue a policy, and would deny coverage if they didn't like a risk factor?

Well other insurances are not disallowed from assessing risk. So they assess risk. You say you have a "nice house" They want to know about exactly what they are insuring, both the exterior and the interior.

Progressive insurance has an explanation HERE
Home Insurance Inspection: What to Expect | Progressive

I too had to go thru a 4 point inspection before State Farm would approve my insurance with them. The lady who came too dozens of photos, especially of our three year old roof. We were approved and now we are covered with them. I think these inspections are now standard when you go with a new carrier.

I had to get a new carrier when Progressive wouldn't renew my homeowners policy and after I switched companies they sent someone out to inspect the house but only the outside. If they wanted to come in I would have told them not until I can check with TV insurance and/or the carrier first. He looked legit but you never know.

I’ve had that done a few times. Now the insurance companies have apps where you take pictures and submit to them - i would call broker and the insurance company.

I don’t even take (receive) legitimate calls anymore. I tell them I will call them back directly. Too many caller id scammers, etc. Out there.

I would not mind having them assess my property before insuring. Car insurance does that all the time to stop people from picking up a policy and then making a claim for prior damage. Makes a lot of sense. Just check with the company directly before allowing anyone into your home.

We had to have an inspection done for sinkhole coverage through state farm. The cost was pretty low. I am thinking around $25. they checked inside and outside around the foundation for cracks or issues.

Either call or walk into one of TV insurance offices to ask them if this is legit. If you call, don’t use the number provided on the letter. Look up the phone number yourself.

If your insurance carrier wants to do an inspection they should have sent you a notification prior to anyone calling you for an appt. Agree with others, call the carrier directly to inquire.

During the great roof scams of Florida I had to find another insurer due to three alphabets cancellation. I got three quotes. Farmers, State Farm and Allstate. All was more than I wanted to pay especially after I paid for my perfectly good roof to get replaced. I went with village insurance, beings I was new customer I had inspection. Took them about 5 or 10 minutes taken few pictures mainly interested in how old water heater and air handler was and of course verified I had my roof replaced. My insurance bundle actually when down from aass (no I misspelled on purpose)
