They spent a few days cleaning out the pond by the 6th hole on the Lakes course at Hacienda Hills three weeks ago and then moved on. It’s cool to watch, they form a wall and force all the fish into a corner and the feeding frenzy begins.

Groups travel from pond to pond start at one end and herd the fish to other end. Only takes a day or two depending on the body of water. I will say the groups are much larger than in the past 15 years, so may have formed a union, keeping a tight knit group.

Another thing we have noticed this year is the large groups of flying predators. Usually see 4-5, lately groups of 15-20 aren’t uncommon.

Yes, you will see the white Pelicans inland in fresh water and Brown Pelicans on the coast in salt water regions.

Pretty but wow do they stink! The poop smell is horrible! Driving down the path you could smell it.
If Pelican poop is high in nitrates (like geese) it’s not good for the water so watch out for algae since pond water is used for irrigation.

Obvious pelicans don't seem to be an endangered species.
How are they BBQed.

Love the sight of that pelican army. When they're around there's also a massive amount of egrets , herons and cormorants that join in to the feeding frenzy.
Yesterday I had a loner pelican that gently swam around the lake, hopefully the rest will show up today.
