Question Magnolia Dental

I recently had a consultation at Magnolia Dental in Summerfield. I am having tooth implants done and heard Magnolia Dental was reasonably priced. Other cosmetic dentists have tried to charge me hundreds of dollars for fancy CT scans and xrays. They priced my procedure to be a little over $7,000.

I went to Magnolia Dental for a second opinion and was surprised to hear they are only going to charge around $4,000. The cosmetic dentist I met with is very nice and seems very confident. His staff are polite and informative. However, I am almost suspicious of his confidence. Other dentists have told me my mouth seems too small for an implant. He took one look and said let's go.

Has anyone used Magnolia Dental before? What kind of review can you give?

Nitabug, I'd be very careful of price shopping for your dental health. I have found that, in most cases, you get what you pay for. I'm married to a dentist who has spent many, many hours correcting the problems created by discount dentists. It always amazes me that no one price shops their cardiologist when they need surgery but have little regard for their dental work. As far as charging for x-rays, etc....would you have ANY surgery performed anywhere on your body, without complete understanding of where the problem actually lies?? Putting an implant in your mouth is surgery, and the success or failure of it is totally determined by the condition of the area the implant is going into. If it is not put in correctly it will fail, and then the costs to correct this (not to mention the time and pain involved) will far surpass the cost of any x-rays that should have been done initially. Please don't ever, ever have dentistry done by a doctor that does not see the need to do it correctly, one that is offering you a "discount". Ok, now I'll get off my soapbox, I just (obviously) have an issue with anyone choosing a health care provider by cost, I assist my husband and have seen the results of that. Oh, by the way, just wanted to add that I know nothing about Magnolia Dental, I (unfortunately!) don't live in the Villages yet (that whole "still working in Michigan" thing!). Magnolia might be a great dental office, I just worry about some of the things that you mentioned.

Trish

I believe you may have misunderstood what was posted. She didn't say they were not going to do the x-rays she was only speaking about the $3,000 difference

Diskman, you are right, I may have been jumping to conclusions and I'm sorry if it offended anyone. It's just a pet peeve of mine, people think that all dentistry is the same...if I can get a crown for $500, why would I pay $900? What people don't realize is that there IS a difference. All I would like to see is a person being careful in choosing, make sure that the dentist has the experience and credentials needed to do a great job. If it's inexpensive..so much the better...but never, ever choose a health care professional for this reason alone. There...got this off my chest.

I used Magnolia 2 years ago. Got the $65 exam and cleaning. Cleaning seemed to be OK. Then dentist decided that I had the beginnings of a cavity in a front tooth. Like an idiot, I let him fill it. The next day the opposite side of the same tooth broke off. I went back to him and he insisted that it could have nothing to do with his filling of the same tooth. Took my xrays from him and went to Palm Ridge Dental, Dr. Reem Jabber and Dr.Kathleen Williams. They were able to repair the tooth and agreed that the coincidence of it being the same tooth that had been filled was too obvious. I have been using them ever since and am extremely pleased with them.

I'm not going to recommend my dentist to anyone because if I do everyone will want to go to him and then I won't be able to get an appointment....I say this because he is an outstanding dentist............If you can't afford the procedure , for ten bucks he'll touch up your x-rays.........

can't whistle anymore fumar
