Can't recommend any homeowner's insurance companies as I'm a wannabee, but I'm sure you will get recommendations as there are lots of TV veterans on TOTV. Just wanted to welcome you to TOTV and congrats on your upcoming home closing.

I just finished my search for coverage for our just-built Gardenia.
I received quotes from AAA, All State, Sumter-Marion, and The Villages.

Based on deductibles of $500 for all perils and 2% hurricane, rankings were: AAA, Sumter-Marion, The Villages, All State. It is noted that The Villages' quote was based on $500 hurricane deductible; their quote would've been lower had they quoted for 2% hurricane but I didn't believe that the quote would drop $210 to match AAA. Additionally, AAA limits of coverage were far superior to those of The Villages, and also to those of both other agencies.

The range was low $600, mid $600, mid $800, high $800.

The AAA premium was discounted bc I am a AAA member and also bc I bundled auto with the home.

Please note that the effects of recently passed legislative action regarding sinkhole coverage limits are being applied after this w/end. I am told that $500 deductible will no longer be available.
BTW: AAA auto quote provided 2x the coverage at almost 50% of the premium cost of my current auto insurance in SoFla.

My bad, sorry. I don't recall. Full disclosure here, I kinda stopped listening when our agent raised the issue of sinkholes, and the need for coverage for that hazard. Lived in so fla since '68, never heard of the need for such coverage before.

Default Bundle your coverages when possible

Most always you'll come out better if you can bundle your car, home and other coverages. Gets you better discounts.

Sinkhole insurance is important in The Villages. You do not have to have your house swallowed up in a giant sinkhole to have a lot of damage. Cracks in the walls are often caused by sinkholes. $1000 deductible is awful high for that, though.

Hurricane insurance deductible is common at 2% of the value of the house. I would suggest getting a reasonable hurricane deductible of $500.

I got my homeowner's through GEICO and have it bundled with my car insurance. Pretty reasonable rates.

Anyone using USAA for home owners? If so, what are their rates in the Designer series range of homes?

AAA itself; they underwrite insurance, according to the agent.
