Default No Golf Cart?

Is there any villagers without a golf cart? Does anyone feel a cart is not necessary?

Ted you have found your first person that does not have a golf cart and doesnt feel its necessary. I have two cars and do just fine. One car is a little two seat convertable and the other car is a 4 door honda civic.

You can get by without a golf cart as long as you have a Miata or maybe a Smart Car. Personally, I enjoy the Club Car.

I have neighbors without golf carts. They don't play golf, they have two cars and feel there is no need for a cart. One doesn't need a cart to get around, there are good roads. A cart is fun, easy to drive around the community and gets good mileage... but it's not necessary.

Thanks all for your responses. We will be snowbirding this year and trying to get feel for the need for cart. We don't golf(at least not yet)I will be working and hubby needs to decide if he needs a vehicle or cart as second ride.

This is an option for us, we both ride. Just sold our bikes but you never quite get it out of your system.

We had 2 different households in our neighborhood that didn't have golf carts. One was bored & moved the other was bored & still don't seem to be having much fun! IMHO I believe this place is a lot more enjoyable with one wether you golf or not!

I agree with Bosoxfan. Have you looked into renting one?

I didn't have a cart my first year here and didn't miss it a bit. Now, I have a cart and my poor car sits in the garage with a dead battery because of lack of use. I don't miss it a bit.

When we moved here we started out with one golf cart and one car. We found ourselves haggling over who was going to be taking the cart and who was going to be taking the car and it wasn't something decided easily. What did we do? We bought another golf cart. Now we're both happy! My suggestion...get a cart!

Your choice, "In growd" or what you want to do. This reminds me of the Dobie Gray song. Does anybody walk? LOL

When I first got to the Villages I didn't see the point of a golf cart. Why take 10 minutes longer to get to the squares in a cart or suffer on hot days with no air conditioning or be cooped up in a cart with no air flow when its raining and the sides are down. Then I figured out that was exactly the point! When I go somewhere in a cart, I am never in a hurry. I feel more relaxed and part of the community. I also discovered that one can survive very nicely without being in air conditioning all the time.

Sold the bikes? Moving to Florida with all that great riding most of the year? Mine is coming with us. And when it gets to big and heavy for me, which it will, (Road King) I will buy a smaller bike. And when that becomes hard I will buy a Piaggio with two front wheels. After that maybe a trike. But will keep riding until I can no longer do it.

I found the golf car paths to be another wonderful layer of The Villages. Scenic routes that afford you quiet spots to safely pause and linger and view things you cannot see by car. And a pleasant way to enjoy the beauty of the golf courses even if you aren't a golfer, while you are on your way to something else.
Do try it!
