Default Gun-haters continue to misfire on concealed carry

Quote:
On November 1, Wisconsin became the 49th state to recognize the right of its citizens to carry firearms. Now, only one state remains in the Dark Ages -- that being the state of Illinois.

As can be imagined, the anti-gun media is predicting that letting citizens carry firearms will result in carnage in the streets, shootouts in bars, and angry parents settling scores on the ball field with their firearms.

And to supposedly prove their point, they cite a bogus report of the Violence Policy Center (VPC) entitled “Concealed Carry Killers.”

The faux report says that “since May 2007 at least 300 people -- including 11 law enforcement officers -- have been killed by private citizens legally allowed to carry handguns in killings not ruled self-defense ….”

Yes, they really can get their stories straight. Sadly this bunch of idiots can't even begin to tell the truth. Yes, let's do away with the Second Amendment, then we can trash the other 9 the next day.

anti gunners are experts only at trying to get everybody to look at the world through a straw....no depth, no perspective, just a very narrow most times not true perspective.
You will always hear "war" story justification form anti gunners. They will never present facts and statistics that historically confirm the safety and justification of 99% of the gun owners. They want the 1% they see in the straw to be the rule.....

I am strongly against the concealed weapons movement....but before you go off and call me a gun hater you should understand why.

On more than one occasion I have stopped men from hitting their wife/girlfriend/partner. Once in New Orleans and once in Colorado Springs. Both times I called the police only once did they respond. It takes courage to stand up to a guy like that after seeing the violence he is capable of and yet I did. But then came the guy that was throwing rocks at a dog....when I asked him to stop and I turned my back he pulled a gun from his fanny pack.

Now you are going to ask me if he had a permit, a license to carry and various other questions to determine if he was a legal gun owner but none of that is relevant because he had a gun and he pulled it and he could have also pulled the trigger.....if he did that I could be dead legal or not, with this guy had I had a gun of my own I would be, at the very least shot, cause this guy was scared of his own shadow which is why he had a gun.

Now I cannot stop a women from being hit if I come across this situation because he might have a gun. Do you know how many women are abused by men who "love them"? Do you know how many women die at the hands of men who "love them'?

So now you know my reasons.....

I once read a news item that documented women who bully men. It is an equal gender phenomenon.

Myth: Guns are not effective in preventing crime against women

Fact: Of the 2,500,000 annual self-defense cases using guns, more than 7.7% (192,500) are by women defending themselves against sexual abuse.

Fact: When a woman was armed with a gun or knife, only 3% of rape attacks are completed, compared to 32% when unarmed.

Fact: The probability of serious injury from an attack is 2.5 times greater for women offering no resistance than for women resisting with a gun. Men also benefit from using a gun, but the benefits are smaller at 1.4 times more likely to receive a serious injury.

Fact: 28.5% of women have a gun in the house.

Fact: 41.7% of women either own or have rapid access to guns.

Fact: In 1966, the city of Orlando responded to a wave of sexual assaults by offering firearms training classes to women. Rapes dropped by nearly 90% the following year. ABC News, July 17, 2001

Your arguement does not hold water. I will never call you a "gun hater" just one who does not understand where the Second Amendment comes into play keeping an uncontrollable government at bay. Any man who beats on women need to go to jail. But sadly most abused women don't or will not press charges.

Also I don't really carry if he had a permit or not. I would venture to guess that he did not since he was so readily willing to display his firearm to you. I don't know if you are male or female but it really doesn't matter for what he did was an assualt and you should have departed the area, called the police and made a formal complaint. So you are as much of the problem as to allowing someone to assualt you that way since you did nothing to stop him from doing it again, and most likely getting shot. There are some of us who can draw and fire under a second.

Alright, I read it more then once. It does and will still happen. Men do not have a monopoly on bullying. Some of the worst bullies are women.

People are killed by automobiles, knives, baseball bats, antifreeze, other poisons, being strangled by ropes, scarves, stockings, etc ,etc etc but we don't ban them we ban the people who misued them.

Anti-gun proponents miss the number of legitimate reasons a person may wnt to own a gun.

These same anti-types want to ban people's right to pray, to pledge to the flag, to eat what they choose.....It goes on and on. Young people have no ideal how many rights/freedoms we have given up over the last 65 years. It is so common place most don't even notice it. You want a clue...watch old movies and you will be getting some real eye openers

So you think its ok to blame the victim....namely ME. But I really don't like being a victim so the rest the story is I followed him home, in my BMW, got his address and went to the police station. I claimed I tried to run him over with my beloved car, of course I would never do that to a Beamer, but he lost. Spent the weekend in jail cause he couldn't make bail and I worked with the DA to make sure I was home to testify at his trial. But the bad news is he finally pleaded out mainly because I was going to testify.

So next time think again before trying to blame the victim....

GOT YA....

memason, I quit smoking in 1973 and its something I wanted to do. But honestly I did not care much for the way that the government, corporations etc. treated smokers. It was a clear example of how government can use propaganda to turn against a targets segment of society. Now the government's target are people they consider and define as being obese. I agree with a positive atempt at helping people stay healthy but take a closer look at what the government is doing and you will see they are infringing on people's rights, turning society against them and making these folks feel worse about themselves. What we need in this country is to return to encouraging people to be individuals.

After pointing a afirearm at you, you followed him home. Not smart, he could have hurt you. Best thing would have been to get the license plate number of his car, call the police, tell them what happened and leave the rest to them. You really could have become a victim.

You might think about taking a class on Home Protection and find out the right way to protect yourself from stupid people who really don't care of they hurt you or not. Home Protection classes are not just about protecting yourself in your home, but ways to protect yourself when you are out and about in public places.

But nothing that anyone says about the right to carry and the right to self protection will change your mind, so I will not be answering anymore of your posts on this subject.

I am sure that your intentions were honorable but nonetheless you were looking for trouble. Now you are very angry because you found it. Again I say that I am sure your intentions were honorable. You use edit the evidence in your argument. Have you any idea how many were not beaten, raped, robbed, or murdered because they had their own firearm to confront their assailant.

I kind of resent your reference to the concealed carry movement. It is the Constitution of the United States of America movement.

A gun in the hand is better than a cop on the phone.

The police officer I dealt with at the time said "I was very brave and that being said "Never do that again". And you are right about not being able to change my mind.....this single incident frames the debate for me.
