Default Golf Car(t) Purchase & Servicing Questions

We will be arriving in TV in a couple of months and one of our priorities is to purchase a new/near new golf cart for travels in and around the area. We have only really considered purchasing from TV stores at SS & LSL because, as we have heard from others, that while it may be a bit more expensive, it is the best thing to do for ease of maintenence / services, etc... Kind of makes sense to us; however, I would like to ask those that are current villagers and have purchased from other area dealers what their experiences are regarding ease of after the sale services? We spoke with the Chrysler/GEM dealer in Leesburg, he said during the first year they pick up the cart for servicing free of charge, after that, your on your own; certainlly don't want to get into a situation like that. Any tips would be really appreciated.

We bought our Ezgo from Advanced Golf Carts who were "off site" at the time because it was the right cart for us (AC drive doesn't slow down on hills, 4 year warranty, no maintenance, etc) and the price was better. Now they have moved closer and have one facility that is golf cart accessible in The Villages and one that is just across the highway from the lower end of The Villages.

The cart has only needed attention a couple of times since we bought it in 2008 and they have been able to either pick up the cart or service it in the driveway but now that they have an on campus site, even better.

But other makes also service their customers here in The Villages by picking up the carts on a trailer. Such trailers are a common sight in The Villages. So personally, I'd go for features and price over location of the dealer.

when we snowbirds went to purchase our cart, we visited every recommended dealer we found on totv. we loved the comfort of the yamaha BUT we appreciated the rebuild workmanship of scott prince of Grandma & Grandpa's Village Buggies [club cars]. scott and wife vicky are also villages residents and have their showroom just north of the villages on hgwy 441/27.

he had absolutely no qualms about showing us the cart he starts with, the cart as a work in progress and the final product. we felt that we benefitted more from scott's workmanship and price , so we purchased our cart there.

scott has proven to be most responsive when we had additional features added to our cart and/or whenever we had a question about something! as sonwbirds with someone to take our cart out for exercise we have not had to deal with any repair issues.

my suggestion is that you include a visit to this business before you buy a cart anywhere. scott gives a most informative presentation of the things that you should look for when purchasing a cart.

We bought our cart from Carts & Clubs in Ocala. No charge for pick-up/return during the warranty period for things needing addressed which necessitate the work being done at their shop. Many things can be done on-site, at your home.

The only issue we've had with ours so far has been an issue with a small area of stitching on the Sunbrella enclosure. I contacted the company that has been making the enclosures for Carts & Clubs - the owner came to our house, removed the section of the enclosure that had the stitching issue, took it back to his shop, and returned to reinstall - all within a couple of hours. No charge to us! He says he guarantees his work for as long as we own the cart.

Advantage Golf Cars on Rte101 by the Bonefish is an authorized EZ-GO dealer and it's a great product in gas or electric. Worth your time to look at it.

Carts & Clubs in Ocala, hands down for us. They build a better Yamaha cart and extend the warranty an extra year (5 years). Check out the tight-fitting windshield. No need for noodles to fill in any gaps on the top or bottom! They add snap tabs for easier Sunbrella use, even a rod that makes getting to the side Sunbrella zipper a breeze when it is closed. Ted and his crew have thought of a lot of little extras that are making our new cart a joy to own and drive. We sprung for the "Ultimate" seat and are SO glad we did. What a difference in riding comfort. You'll also get a cart that will go faster and he recommends speedometers on his carts, which make it much easier to stay within the required speeds here in The Villages. A few days after delivery of our new cart we noticed very minor scuffs on the side mirrors. The service rep was here within the hour and he replaced both mirrors. They also "remanufacture" carts and you might be able to save some $$ by going that route.

Ditto for Carts and Clubs. I own two, one from them and one from TV store. Carts and Clubs is significantly better with enclosure and convenience features.

Another Kudo for carts and things. Have had my Yamaha for two years which I purchased from them and am very pleased with their service.
