Although I have lived my entire life so far in the Midwest, I am not a fan of winter weather/snow/ice/cold temps. If I am lucky enough to move to TV in the future, I am sure I would not miss the Midwest winters. For those of you who relocated to TV from the Snow Belt, did the first snow/ice free winter seem kind of strange to you? Not strange in a bad way, but just different.
Since the Chicago area has had blessedly so little snow so far this winter, it has seemed kind of strange -- but strange in a good way -- l'm not complaining. Just wondering how people in TV, especially for those who are spending their first winter in TV, have any thoughts on this. Last edited by Schaumburger; 01-02-2012 at 02:04 PM. Reason: Typo |

Only at Christmas would I miss it. Rest of the year who needs it!
Unless you are a Avid Skier with all your God Given joints in good working order! I used to semi professional cross country race and winter Hike the High Peaks. But that was at 35-45 at 60 and I'm paying the price of beating up my body then. Anything under 65 and I'm cold I don't honestly believe you will miss it a bit! Herv |

I have been fortunate to be a snowbird for five years, looking for a perminate nest, considering The Villages. Not too keen on Florida during Hurricane season though, and May through August are indoor months (air conditioning).
My dream schedule would be October 15 to April 16 in The Villages (6 months and a day) for Homestead exemption, then New England for the rest of the year. Thats my dream.

What do you mean no snow? I think this was from two winters ago. We were trapped inside for .... ummm.... ok fine, we were not trapped, but it did kind of snow

It's all relative....having spent the large majority of my life in Miami, the Bahamas, Belize, and Panama I find TV kinda chilly (especially tonight!). I'll get used to it, but DW wants us to consider going back to Panama for the colder months here in TV.

![]() As for missing the snow and cold.....nope not at all!!! Even when it does get cold here, such as tomorrow and Weds. It doesn't last for long and the sun is back out. Besides even 49 is nothing like 29 or 19!!! I'll take the heat any day over the cold. Suzanne |

Spent most of my life in Wis. and wondered the same thing. I moved south 3 yrs ago and to TV this fall. I have not missed the snow one bit. I love watching newscasts or football games that show the blowing snow and say a little prayer of gratitude that I no longer have to live there. After 3 yrs, the temps up north seem "weird" not the temps here. Also, my definition of "cold" has changed. Now, when temps are in the 60s I wear a coat or sweater.

This is our first winter in TV, and we are from RI, and we do not miss the cold or the snow or the ice. We pinch ourselves everyday for making the decission to buy here. We are snowbirds for right now but will be planing on living here full time in the next year or so.

We joked about how happy we were when someone at one of our moving to FL sales walked down our driveway with our snow shovel. No matter hot hot or humid it might get here, I can still get out and be active, I don't have to go to the mall to walk for fear of falling, and we do not have to shovel HUMID!
