Default Nine month odessy

Back in April of last year we went to The Villages for a lifestyle visit and loved the place. We decided that this was the place we would like to spend our retirement years. We found the model of house we liked and a lot in the Village of St. James that my wife couldn't live without so we put a deposit on it. We would start contruction a year later and snowbird until we were readyto retire.

The housing market is lousy so we decided to go ahead and list our Va. house. If it sold fine, if not, well we weren't ready anyway. After four months on the market and over fifty showings, not one offer. Then in Oct., our agent said he had a pre-qualified buyer who loved the house and made us an offer we just had to accept. A week later, our Villages sales rep called. She said they were offering a 4% discount for those with a lot if they started contruction before the end of the month (only 200 discounts available). Couldn't pass up the discount, so we sent a check for the 20% down and gave the go ahead.

Now here we sit in a Ga. motel room ready to make the final leg of our trip to The Villages tomorrow to close on our house in St. James. We now join the ranks of snowbirds until we retire. It will be good practice for retirement.

Smile re nine month odessy

Congratulations Jim and Evelyn....We have more to consider before we get that far but our goal is to be in TV once our home sells. Hopefully that Journey will begin soon for us... For now we are going thru our "Stuff" lessening our load for that eventual trip to TV
Good Luck on your new "Journey" in The Villages...

Thanks guys. It hasn't quite hit me yet, but I'm starting to feel very lucky to be part of all this.

We will be coming down as often as possible at first and hope to meet everyone from TOTV. Then we will work on meeting everyone else.

I hope everyone who is looking for a buyer will have the same kind of good luck we have had. Hang in there, it will happen for you.

Jim

Jim - Welcome to the pond! Your story sounds a whole lot like ours. We had a very similar experience. We are now living in St James also.
