When I was around 10 I went fishing with my grandfather and he told me stories and answered questions of our family and where we came from and what he went through in the war ... I am 60 now and still remember that ...

A manatee watching tour in Crystal River is always fun. I was there last week and saw dozens of manatees. With this recent cold snap, there should be even more of them out there.

My 10 year old grandson wants to ride in the golf cart, go to movies in the golf cart and take the golf car to the Rec centers where he can practice his basketball

Watch the RC model air planes at the polo fields, watch the various sail boat club sailings, watch the rc power boat group. A couple of boating guys even let my grand daughter try her hand at sailing for a few minutes. All groups will talk time to demonstrate their equipment and skills and answer questions. Maybe contact the kite club (cloudchasers) to see what their events are.
Horse back trail rides. There several around the Villages. Tour a horse farm in the Ocala area.

Go do the river cruise by Capt Mike behind Stumpknockers and then have seafood at the restaurant after the cruise. Capt Mike is a great informative tour guide. Very interesting and your grandson will see a lot of wildlife.

Florida Wildlife Park in Homossassa was my grandkids favorite place when they were 10. It's about an hour away. In two hours you can get in the manatee feeding and talk, boat ride and see the zoo animals. It's very reasonable. Then go north on 19 to Rt 44, head west to the end of the road at the beach and go swimming at Fort Island Trail Park (I think that's the name). You can sit under small pavilions there and there's a rest room.
