Default Gun sales explode

as election looms.

Quote:
Sales of handguns and ammunition are booming across the country, and retailers say it’s all about the November election.

Gun shop owners around the nation told FoxNews.com that sales, brisk ever since President Obama was elected, have spiked upward in recent months. And manufacturers are having so much trouble keeping up with the demand that one, Sturm, Ruger & Co., can’t keep up with demand. The Southport, Conn.-based company has had to suspend new orders after taking orders for more than 1 million guns in the first three months of the year. Smith & Wesson sales are way up, as well.
************************************************** *****

Caroline Brewer, a spokeswoman for the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence, said the rising sales are deceptive. She told ABC in December that gun ownership is not actually rising, but existing gun owners are stockpiling them.

“There’s been a whole lot of hysteria raised by the NRA about the need to stockpile guns because (President) Obama’s going to take your guns away,” Brewer said. “It may mean more gun owners are buying more guns.”

On a side note since I do competitive shooting and reload most of my own, even the components are starting to become hard to find and the prices are increasing.

you can thank the republican party's negative spin on Obama and gun control for causing the hysteria.

Yesh, just what we need. More gun owners with the easiest to obtain CCW permits you can imagine.

Guns don't kill people - just the nuts handling the guns!

"They are fuzzy about some issues but the Republican presidential candidates leave little doubt about where they stand on gun rights.

Rick Perry and Rick Santorum go pheasant hunting and give interviews before heading out. Newt Gingrich and Herman Cain speak to the National Rifle Association convention. Michele Bachmann tells People magazine she wants to teach her daughters how to shoot because women need to be able to protect themselves. Mitt Romney, after backing some gun control measures in Massachusetts, now presents himself as a strong Second Amendment supporter."

"President Barack Obama, on the other hand, is virtually silent on the issue.

He has hardly addressed it since a couple of months after the January assassination attempt on Rep. Gabrielle Giffords in Tucson, Ariz., when he promised to develop new steps on gun safety in response. He still has failed to do so, even as Tucson survivors came to Capitol Hill last week to push for action to close loopholes in the gun background check system."

Is this the policy to which you allude ???????

And of course we wait for other shoes to drop on the Mexico thing !!!!!!

And we see how well these "candidates" have done so far and basically what kind of people they are. Rick Perry belonged to a hunting lodge which had a racial slur painted on the entrance gate; Newt and Cain both are philanderers; and Michelle Bachmann preaches against government assistance while taking in farm subsidies hand over fist. Mitt flip-flops but is the best of the group.

I am sorry...this has what to do with gun sales or gun policy ? You missed a turn, you are looking "politics of ridicule" and that may have moved....good luck

GUNS IN THE HANDS OF LAW ABIDING CITIZENS IS NOT THE PROBLEM. iT HAS NEVER BEEN THE PROBLEM.

The criminal element will always have access to guns no matter how stringent the laws.

Those of you who are ambivelent about gun ownership by law abiding citizens need to be very concerned about controlling access to guns by law abiding citizens.

Let's hope you never find out what happens when there are no law abiding gun owners!!!!

There will be no law ever put into effect that will have my guns and ammo out of my possession. NONE!!!!

Lets look at the current issue in Sanford...a law abiding whack job armed with a gun, concealed weapons permit and the Stand Your Ground law

=

MURDER

Depends on how murder is defined in the state's lawbooks.

In NH, there's Murder 1, meaning you planned to murder. Murder 2 means you had intent arising from immediate circumstance. Then you get into the 'manslaughter' defintions for things like crimes of passion (coming home, seeing your spouse in bed with someone else and going on a rampage) going down to accidents that shouldn't have happened (like vehicular manslaughter).

Everything I've heard from people with legal backgrounds seem to indicate that this is going to be some degree of a manslaughter case.

Did Martin have a gun? NO

Is Martin dead? YES

No stretching here.

and what about the other 99% that make up the law abiding, gun carrying majority???? There are nut cases in any and every group one can think of that exists on the planet. The one nut case does not a trend (not even close) make.

A true statistical reference is the more armed the citizenry the safer results....for the linksters, google it yourself there are too many to cite.

Please try to remember it is not the guns that are the problem. Guns are responsible for murder like erasers on pencils are responsible for misspelled words!!!!!!!

Last time I checked, misspelled words are not flesh and blood. Very callous reply by you.

Unfortunately, quite often the argument is made that NO law abiding, permitted gun owner would do what Zimmerman did. I can provide some of those posts because they were used in a thread where I shared that a man pulled a gun on me. That argument doesn't hold water now...Zimmerman was a permitted, "law abiding" gun owner. You quote a stat of 99% where did you get that stat? Please provide the link.

I would agree that most gun owners won't use their guns for murder. The problem is we can't tell who will and who won't. Check the stats for women killed with guns.
