just want to recommend a book which has stood the test of time for 30 years as a political commentary....Constitutional scholar W. Cleon Skousen named the 28 principles used by the founding fathers in all their writings...these principles were based on the Nature of Man and took this nature into account when formulating the laws of the republic. from small agricultural colonies, the young United States within three years became the place to which everyone dreamed of coming. the union achieved theretofore unheard of freedom, industriousness, economic growth and REAL progress, not the left wing nonsense passed off as "progressivism" today. perhaps this is a good time to refresh our memories as to what exactly did make our nation great.

chachacha....I am surprised at the lack of responses. I think your suggestion is a good one.
What was obviously not in any thinking back then was the moral degeneration our country would allow, nor the power of the 7/24 media, or the influence of special interest groups, there was of course no impact of illegal aliens and all who allow it, or lobbyists maneuvering the politicians they support and pay...... it was a country dedicated to work hard to make the country great during which most Americans improved their status in life via hard work. That ethic has been transformed into an entitlement driven society. The industrial and electronic revolutions and evolutions drove the country to remain a world leader. The political revolution of recent years is in direct contrast to how this country....dare I say it....EVOLVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The new norm is the benefit of the few. The current trend will continue as long as the current crooked, lecher, lying politicians and their supporters continue with business as usual. There is very little done anymore in the name of the original concept of we the people.... And as I have said many times before, I sadly repeat that I believe as bad as today is it will most likely be the best of times for any foreseeable future....very sad for those who follow our generation. btk |

BTK is correct.
This should have comments but I am afraid this country has lost its moral compass totally. What we call moving FORWARD (yes that was sarcastic) is the route to making illegal acts legal and have the government bail us out at every opportunity. We need not tell the truth any longer...just look at these threads on here for the deceptive LIES made in the interest of political discussion. We are moving at breakneck speed to total social oblivion. Our congress so distrusts each other, they vote based on THAT instead of being statement and have the interest of their country first. |

thank you both for your very insightful replies...the pity is that the "new" forms of government, socialism, communism, collectivism, do not take into account this ever unchanging nature of man and they are doomed to fail...as soon as a communist is given a cow, he becomes a capitalist...he wants to look out for his own family, he wants to get ahead. if he sees he cannot get ahead, he stops working and soon there is no one to provide for all those who have stopped working! this is an old story and you would think people would learn from not only history but what is happening in europe today!
