Default Even Maureen Dowd??; is the bloom off the rose??

Noted solid liberal columnist Maureen Dowd's column in today's New York Times tells a tale of her burgeoning disillusionment with the President of the United States who she previously fawned over.

It's really worth a read. It may have been written with a tear in her eye, but brought a smile to me.

how does that old saying go?

You can fool some of the people some of the time but not all of the people all of the time.

This election Obama has his past 3 1/2 years to measure him by and many are and have been concluding they have been fooled.

What I look forward to is when the main stream media gets to a point where there is no percentage in running cover for him....it will happen.

Obama had nothing to run on during the 2008 campaign and I am afraid that the old saw may not apply because you can always fool a fool and apparently there are a lot of them out there especially those feeding at the government trough.

Default Not sure how you call Maureen Dowd a solid liberal.

She pokes fun at either party with abandon.

Question

I can't believe that posters on this forum are reading and quoting Maureen Dowd. Is Ann Coulter on vacation?

Ann Coulter hardly ever takes pot shots at Republicans though. All her diatribes are against liberals.

I've found another article about liberal New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd illustrating her disillusionment with BHO.

She's even referred to as the "liberal queen of snark".

rubicon - as a retired state employee who lives on the sole income of an early social security check [for which i contributed various amounts while working from age 16 to 62] and a state retirement pension [for which i worked 24 years and made bi-weekly contributions], i STRONGLY RESENT that you would consider me as 'feeding at the government trough'.

I checked some of the 2008 Maureen Dowd columns and she hardly sounds like a fan of Obama. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/13/op...dowd.html?_r=1

njbchbum: you mistake my post. I am referring to those career medicaid/food stamps individuals who pass that right of entitlement from one generation to another. I certainly would not include folks like you..unless you consider what you are getting as "Obama money" See the difference?????

It has been a surreal 3 year experience for me to know but finally read an accounting as such Maureen Dowd's Superhero. What was it that prevented so many, otherwise intelligent, people to miscalculate and to misread Obama. His failings have always been there for people to see. Perhaps the Democrats had rigged spray guns filled with Love Portion #9 at each and every voting both and it has taken three years to wear off.

Maureen Dowd hardly looks like she ever had a bloom for any President. She seems to like Hillary Clinton but I do not see her really supporting anyone. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/06/08/opinion/08dowd.html

Hey, Richie, with Dowd's column today we don't even have to spend fifteen bucks buying Klein's book, The Amateur.

I think all Dowd finally said is what a lot of people, myself included, have been thinking for awhile. I hoped it wouldn't happen when I voted for Obama as "the lesser of two evils" in 2008. But I knew I could change my mind and my vote in 2012, which is what I'll do.

The only thing that bothers me is another article I read in today's NYT, quoting a guy--it might have been a faculty member--regarding what both Obama and Romney were like when they attended Harvard. He pretty much described two peas in a pod--both extremely analytical, slow to make a decision, unwilling to be confrontational, not terribly good at getting others to see their way of thinking, personally self-centered to a fault, introverted. The writer was surprised that either of them had chosen politics, particularly national politics at a high level, for their life's work.

I've thought for awhile now that the differences between Romney and Obama are paper thin when it comes to the ability to maneuver the Congress and lead the country. Romney will get my vote, and I hope I'm wrong. But I also know that if he doesn't work out, we can go to yet another "plan" in 2016.

I looked and looked for the NYT article, but couldn't find it again to provide a reference or link. I can't even remember what section it was in. Maybe someone else read the same thing who can point us to it.
