Default Just because...

I have been pointing out the lies in our Presidents autobiography for about 4 years on this forum, and am always mocked when I do it...seems not many people care that our President wrote 2 auto biographies and lied....I read both of them and tried to post items on here about the total idea of what he says is just not true.

However, those who adore the president can see him doing no wrong in anyway....but I feel compelled to post this because I am used to being ridiculed for this, although NOT ONE PERSON has ever contested it, which means I suppose that" it is ok to lie in your auto biographies and it DOES NOT SPEAK to your character. That means there is a lot of room for people in publlic office to lie and not be called on it.

"A new biography of Barack Obama has established that his grandfather was not, as is related in the President’s own memoir, detained by the British in Kenya and found that claims that he was tortured were a fabrication.

'Barack Obama: The Story' by David Maraniss catalogues dozens of instances in which Obama deviated significantly from the truth in his book 'Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance'. The 641-page book punctures the carefully-crafted narrative of Obama’s life.

One of the enduring myths of Obama’s ancestry is that his paternal grandfather Hussein Onyango Obama, who served as a cook in the British Army, was imprisoned in 1949 by the British for helping the anti-colonial Mau Mau rebels and held for several months."

And this I pointed out in 2008 even before he was a nominee and nobody cared then....

"Obama himself, Maraniss finds, deliberately distorted elements of his own life to fit into a racial narrative. The author writes that Obama presents himself in his memoir as ‘blacker and more disaffected’ than he really was.

The memoir ‘accentuates characters drawn from black acquaintances who played lesser roles his real life but could be used to advance a line of thought, while leaving out or distorting the actions of friends who happened to be white’.

This is from UK because as we have seen over and over for years, the USA press does not cover this....more interested in that machine at WAWA than having a President who has lied and continues to do so. Why character is not an issue with this race, I dont get.

We call candidates out all the time for things that are not even lies, but out of context.....we drum on them, both Democrat and Republican.

I, and it is becoming more apparent it is just me, cannot recall anyone lying profusely IN HIS AUTOBIOGRAPHY. If that does not speak to character tell me what might ?

Sorry to bore all of you with my stupid thing about lying and character...I obviously am out of line.

BUT, I will certainly be less tolerant on here for anyone who calls anyone out for even misshaping the truth even by a little. My response will be that the President does it always and it is ok to do...just lie about anything and relax.

Yelp, yelp, yelp. This "story" is based upon absolutely nothing. It sounds like another "biographer" trying to sell books by debasing another famous person. Pure tripe and shame on anyone for taking it for fact.

If you hate Pres. Obama so much, just don't vote for him but do your campaigning for Mr. Romney in a positive vein instead of mud slinging. Your continuous character assasination of the President is really boring anymore.

First of all, the story has been very well documented, but of course you dont read anything. In addition, I pointed this and much more out for the last 4 years...most of it validated and then forgotten. You have never seen me post on the birther stuff or much of the other things that you here, but his lies in his autobiography and his lies as President..yes They can and have been well validated.

NOW.....if you will support Obama with facts on what he has done and plans to do, and stop the demeaning of Romney and the name calling (I think you refer to it as mud slinging),,,,,we might have a real discussion on what is going on, but as much as you ask me to stop "mud slinging", you CANNOT stop calling people names as that seems to be what you do.

I also welcome you to challenge any of my "mud slinging" with facts to dispel it. Thus far all you do in response to anyone criticizing him is to call Romney or another of the party you abhor another name (I think you call that mudslinging)

Unless you can stop with the cute demeaning names and the half truths aimed at folks, I will continue WITH FACTS ATTACHED criticize this President.

It is up to you, and I would gladly welcome a discussion of facts with you on issues and candidates as most adults try to do, but last time I tried that you made a fool of me on here so the first move will need to be up to you.

Bucco,
As I stated as soon as Mr. Romney made it to the Republican candidate, I would not call him "cute" names - and I have kept my word. Go back and do your checking from the time he became the Republican candidate.

It is not demeaning to say that Romney is out of touch with the average American or that it is doubtful he has shopped at a convenience store on his own with a debit card before the campaigning. What multi-millionaire has done that? Probably none. Common sense dictates that.

If you have that much dislike for Pres. Obama, go right ahead and continue your posts against him. Makes no difference to me - but they are obviously are not making you a happy person. Enjoy life more. Get outdoors. Walk. Garden. Go to the squares and dance or just enjoy the music. This is a wonderful community and not worth getting worked up over something political. It is good to be involved but not absorbed in politics.

I will do my very best not to embarass you with any posts or comments.

And you think Obama is in touch with the average American?

When was the last time Obama rolled into a gas station and filled up his Prius all by himself?

ROFL.

No, I do not think Pres. Obama is out of touch with the average American.

Probably when he was a Senator from Illinois and before he became a Presidential candidate when he started getting Secret Service protection - just like Mr. Romney gets now, too.

There is a HUGE difference between embarassment and being intentionally made a fool of.

You intentionally made a fool of me in public, and I was not embrassed...but you will never make a fool of me again in public.

And I will live my life as I wish ......politics is how I made a living for awhile in my live thus I enjoy it, except for lying.

And trust me, I am NOT embarassed...as I have done often on here, I make mistakes and own up to them thus saving embarassment

Here's where you open your mouth when you haven't done your homework. the author of the book Bucco is discussing is an Obama supporter.

He's upset that Obama critics are using his book to point out all the lies that Obama has told in his "autobiographies". He didn't mean this to happen, he says. He says he's a "historian and not a fact checker".

The truth of this book by this clueless friendly to Obama historian is that he did indeed document 38 separate lies by Obama in his book.

He unwittingly actually vetted Obama. How about that?

You have to eat crow on this one Buggy. You've got no answer for this.

Author David Maraniss on his book 'Barack Obama: A Story,' says he wrote the book as a historian, not a fact checker – Starting Point with Soledad O'Brien - CNN.com Blogs

Bucco, with all due respect, and believe me I do respect you, it is hard to fathom you making a living in politics. You are seemingly, so thin skinned and sensative to disagreement, that politics would not seem to fit your profile. I think you are sincere and resolute, but you really seem to take this board and the comments made here, a bit seriously. This is a forum for people to express opinions, and some like to use it to tweak opposing views. In the end, no one is influenced by anything written or posted on the forum. Everyone who is motivated enough to sign up and post on a board like this is likely already comfortable with their ideology, beliefs, prejudices, and politics and are not likely to be persuaded otherwise. It should, in my opinion, be a nice little diversion, to be indulged in on a casual and infrequent basis. Good luck and don't get overwrought by those who would disagree with you - in many cases your obvious discomfort is their comfort.

I will admit readily to angst from this board. HOWEVER, almost 100% is from liars and flamers. I do not care if you disagree with me on anything at all but I cannot abide liars and what I have learned to call a flamer. I think both shows disrespect to ALL others on this board and that in addition to lack of respect for those you oppose.

In real politics, you expect it...part of the game TO AN EXTENT, BUT to have liars and such in THE VILLAGES is such a disappointment to me and you are correct, I show it too much and suppose I am naive in thinking that folks on here are here to reallly learn but not the case.

Yes, I am guilty of being much too thin skinned. Remember, in real politics, you can "get back" on folks and they KNOW it, so much of the lying is more of selective editing, and for the most part those you deal with are at least aware of the issues and stakes. On here, it is apparent that some posters are simply on a left wing or right wing reading list and that is the extent of their news...yep, that angers me a lot and when that is convered to disrespectful one liners, I DO in fact lose it a bit.

When this forum began, it was pretty much debate on the same lines as now. Difference was a number of years ago, those who posted actually gave you some reason for their thoughts and to a degree it was a thought out, valid thought whether you agreed to it or not. As I have often said, you can learn a lot from intelligent conversation. They could be and were nasty at times, but for the most part they were sincere posters who would disagree but tell you why and it was mostly based on facts or their version of facts.

That is what sent me on a lot of reading missions concerning our president and his background, and I will admit here and now, he had no chance with me basically because of his background and lies...that shut the door for me (As it does in my personal life...you lie or deceive me and thats it). I read archives from Chicago....both his autobiographies and anything I could find on him, thus my opinions.

I will tell you that just about everything I predicted on him came true, and as long as this country allows it, we have problems. I never compared him to Bush, with whom I have big problems on a ton of issues, but Bush is not, nor did make our President lie so much and be so devious.

And again...disagreeing with me DOES NOT BOTHER ME, if done with respect and based on facts and if both of us maintain an open mind.

I am beginning to learn...remember in my day, no internet, no cell phones, no nothing like this...you worked face to face basically. but I am learning how this internet age is ruining our society but let me step off the soap box now.....your last sentence says a lot and I always hoped that when I made a fool of them with facts and proving they just make things up but that doesnt work either, and THAT fact, that you are not embarassed by lack of knowledge and just keeping moving on without any education is a scary proposition for this countries future.

Thankfully, I am old enough, it isnt going to bother my future....and I hope that someday some of these quick smart mouths look back and understand how they shorted themselves, their country and their children.

Sorry....but thanks for a polite response !

PS....by the way, just for clarification sake...I do not simply hang out on here. Today, for example I watched the hearings on CSPAN and had the computer open here for emails and such.....my life is very full outside of politics. Oh, and as a Yankee fan, I also watched part of the game today....that also did not make me happy

Those are the same thoughts I tired to convey but I guess they were of no use. He is entitled to his views about me even though I feel I am a fairly decent guy.
