Thumbs up The Villages Hospital

Today, Mike and I got to spend a good portion of the day at The Villages Hospital. Mom-in-law was experiencing pressure in her chest and called 911, then us. EMT's arrived quickly, set up IV's, took info from us and headed to the hospital. When we arrived, Mom was in an ER room, blood had been drawn, EKG had been done, etc. Doctor came in, took info, did an exam, explained tests that would be done and why...nitro patch put on and explanation of what could be experienced because of the patch. As we waited, she was going to be admitted for further tests, I counted the number of ambulances that arrived early this morning......6.....some from Sumter County, others from Lake and Marion Counties. Grandma was comfortable, stable and being well cared for. We left to get some things for her and when we returned, she was up in her room, resting. The nurse arrived to take down more info, the cardiologist arrived, did his exam, explained what course of action would follow, making certain Mom and we understood. Then lab tech arrived to draw yet more blood and next, the hospital GP arrived, asked questions, did an exam, explained what could be happening, what tests would be performed and the course of action that would be followed, depending on test results. Later the test results came in indicating that a cardiac event had not taken place. A stress test was the final test to take place, but that would be tomorrow. We headed home for dinner and returned with some more things Mom wanted for the evening. By the time we returned, part of the stress test had already been performed and Mom was enjoying her dinner.

Her care today was great, all the hospital staff we dealt with were upbeat and caring, understanding and extremely busy. Our thank you to all, the clerks, the nurses' aides, the nurses, the physicians.

It's good to hear some positive comments about the local hospital. Thanks for sharing, and good luck to your MIL.

Echoing everything everyone else said! I would have to say I also had a very positive experience with T.V. hospital. They did a great job in my care which also was an emergency (but not the same as your mom's)

So glad your experience with Village Hospital was very good and that MIL received immediate attention. Good news all around. Hope her health continues to improve and that she's home real soon.

Kinda comforting to hear that our hospital is not the disaster we have heard so much about. Thanks for sharing this.
