Moving to The Villages July 20th. I have no clue about what to buy when it comes to golf carts. I visited four dealers today and I am more confused than ever. I would appreciate hearing from golf cart users about their preferences for gas or electric, 2 seater vs 4 seater, brand etc. Thanks.

I have owned a yamaha gas and now have a par car electric....I liked the yamaha for less maintenance and never worrying about if I have enough charge left in the batteries....I drive everywhere with it...but I also like the par car I have now because no exhaust odor and a lot quieter. With TV getting bigger by the day and if i get another new cart it will probably be another gas.

Thanks. I think I am leaning to gas as well. It also appears that Yamaha may be the best in gas carts.

EZ GO for electric or Yamaha for gas.
Electric for no stink and quiet. Gas if you need more than 50 to 60 miles in one day. |

I think a gas Club Car or Yamaha is superior to any electric cart for TV. The noise and smell stuff has never been any issue to me. Four seaters are nice if you have guests who might go with you to the squares or just a fun ride. You can get every option two-seaters have so you don't have to sacrifice anything in four seater. I would NEVER have an electric with four-seats. Just wouldn't be able to depend on the power to get back home.

![]() You'll find numerous existing threads related to the topic (via the Search function): Need Golf Cart Recommendation Gas carts - Yamaha or Club? Electric or Gas Golf Cart Golf Carts Just wondering..... Golf Cart - Gas or Electric? Etc., etc., etc. Do whatever level of research you feel is necessary and choose based on what suits your tastes. There will be no consensus of opinion on electric vs. gas, Brand A vs. B. vs. C, or golf cart vs. street legal cart.........and so on. For those considering purchasing a new cart, I offer the following comments regarding my negative experience with the local EZGO dealer (AGC):
- In spite of my questioning, the salesman did not adequately explain options available and after ordering and purchase I found several things I would have preferred to have included. - I have had two experiences with service on the cart: 1) The oil filter was put on so tight at the factory, I could not remove it. I called the salesman and rather than assist me, he argued that the filter did not yet need changing and call back when it did. When I insisted I wanted it removed and brought the cart in, the service staff had the same problem. Point is, the attitude was to argue and not take care of the customer. 2) With only 57 hours on the cart, the front tires are worn out. I went to the service department to inquire about alignment. I was told that there were no alignment options on the cart and it was due to my driving habits. Reading the factory manual, I determined the toe-in can be adjusted. I subsequently determined the toe was set at negative 1.25 inches when the setting should be 1/8 inch. That is clearly why the tires have worn out quickly. Please consider my experience when reviewing potential dealers to purchase your golf cart. |

Talk to Ralph Wolf at The Villages Golf Cars in LSL. He is a straight shooters and will help you sort out all of the issues. We have 2 Yamaha gas cars (2006 and 2012 models) and really like them both. Honestly the "stink" is a non-issue but helps "sell" electric cars.
We spent a lot of time deciding, reading, and talking to others before we purchased our Yamaha. When all of the info was considered we bought th best golf car (Yamaha) from the best salesperson (Ralph) at the best dealer (The Villages Golf Cars in LSL) and have never regretted it. The service has been wonderful. Don't underetimate the value of 7 days per week availability for service and loaner car when yours is in for service. Tops in the area. OK that's the view from our perch. Choose wisely, Grasshopper. |

to say someone "wouldn't be able to depend on the power to get back home" holds true for a car you drive, it's called a gauge. ![]() when you hit a pre-determined voltage you need to know how far you can go until you need a charge. Like driving your car and the low fuel light comes on. 2 seat v 4 seat in elec makes little difference never heard that. The average in the posts here are about 40-45 miles, 60 with a bigger battery pac. Solar is expected never to need a plug in charge and run 65-75 miles. As some of you know I've been working on this project and expect to move forward later this year. --- As far as brand I like the Club Cars because of their aluminum frame (lighter) all others are steel (rust) later on.

I've got a Club Car electric and a Yamaha Gas. I have had no problem with the Yamaha Gas, and have had several battery issues with the Club Car. It's a nice cart, but I think gas is the only way to go since TV is getting so big. I would highly recommend the Yamaha Gas.

We just purchased a 2013 Yamaha EFI from Villages Golf Cars last Friday.
They give you a free loaner while you wait although no cart is better than their loaner. I had a hard time keeping up with a bicycle! Our favorites options are the Ultimate bucket seats and the 13" SS rims. PM me and I will let you know who to ask for. |

We bought from Carts and Clubs and they offer a lot of things that TV shop does not have. Sound deadener package, etc, etc, etc.
The gas smell issue .... if you are in an electric cart and the one in front of you is gas .......... Don |
