Sorry, no support here, what's wrong with everyone just learning to accept all people, enough is enough! I could care less what Cathy believes in, and his beliefs should just be that...his...NOT imposed on others to create such drama. Clearly he forgets the part in the Bible about loving one another. Sad Cathy that you wish to use your business to speak out against others, shame on you frankly!

This week, mayors of Boston, Chicago and San Francisco warned Chick-fil-A and its CEO Dan Cathy, who’s been an outspoken opponent of same-sex marriage, not to pursue new franchises in their cities. Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl said he shares his fellow mayors’ concerns and would consider trying to block the chain as well. Philadelphia City Councilman James Kenney sent a letter to Cathy, telling him to "take a hike and take your intolerance with you" and vowing to introduce a resolution at the next council meeting condemning the company.

In a letter to the editor of an Illinois newspaper the following was written today: "Regarding the Chick- fil-A uproar: As someone who has been discriminated against because of my orientation, it would be hypocritical to support discrimination against a company for the sole reason of expressing a position based on belief. As long as Chick-fil-A has open hiring practices and honors legislation that recognizes laws honoring gay rights, we absolutely should not keep them from doing business or withhold building permits."

"Our country honors freedom of faith. It goes against everything our country was built upon. How can any of us learn from one another and grow if we are discouraged to express our beliefs in a public venue?"

The letter to the editor concludes by saying: "I appreciate the sentiment of these actions, but not the action. Let us fight this battle fairly and honestly without discrimination. Haven't we had enough of that?"

Another perspective on the Chick-fil-A issue. Personally, I wonder just who these mayors think they are??? Dictator's???

So now I have to worry about the religious or political affiliation of my food! I wonder if my Big Mac is pro gun or anti gun. Is my Wendy's classic double for Obamacare? (If it gets supersized, maybe it should be). How about 5 guys hamburgers....that sounds pretty gay! I have another suggestion.....why doesn't everyone just hush!

taking the gay/lesbian/etc/marriage issues out of the equation - do you care that others are trying to stomp on cathy's freedom of religious belief? could yours or one of your other freedoms be next? what would you support then?

I respectfully disagree. Cathy has an absolute right to live his beliefs. I have always respected his company for their beliefs, even if I couldn't get a sandwich from them on Sunday. He hasn't lost a single freedom he had last week. He is still free to believe, to pray, and to state his opinion on whatever subject he wants. However, others are also free to disagree with him.

great article. makes me have to question whether these mayors could now claim that they subscribe to obama's philosophy that small business owners do not do it on their own. it seems one could believe that the mayors have no intention to help anyone start up a business UNLESS they conform to the mayor's beliefs. is that not discrimination in its ultimate form?
